so pretty much everyone seen this coming except Trent and Manly. Why does the stuff that's obvious to Joe Public seem hover in the blind spot of those making the decisions?

It's the longest a team has gone without a maiden spoon IIRC. Roosters managed 41 years, and It'll be 40+ years before the Broncos, the next team to have avoided their maiden spoon longest, could overtake us.

We've always been lucky to have Parramatta around to save us tbh.

Edit- In terms of simply avoiding the spoon, Balmain did so for 63 years between 1911 and 1974. If we count St George and the merge as one entity they've been avoiding it since 1938, so 80 years.

If you are counting the merge as one entity that would mean you include Illawarra in the equation. Their last spoon was '89.

Saints fans have followed a top flight side that hasn't won a wooden spoon since 1938.

I don't think from a strict position that StGI and StG are the same club, and nor is Illawarra so that wouldn't count. From that POV the original Saints Run stops at 60. Anything beyond that is just a dick measuring contest.

Really vindictive. If Trent stays on his pretty much f**ked in terms of what limited coaching future he had. The mob in charge is more than happy to burn the joint down to prove a point and they'll do it here.

They're forcing Trent to quit without compensation or, alternatively destroy his remaining prospects.

Of course, it's another little gift to the fans.

Le sigh.

Nah, toss it of destroying manly for a year, go to SL and win a trophy, return back to nrl when opportunity arises. Trent gets last laugh.
