seen ma'a
not a big fan to b honest, great size but there alot kids around that can do what he can do
has anybody herd of a young kid named royce jeffries??(spelling??)
he is in the AIS squad going on the trip to europe, apparently he will b part of this ball squad and maybe 20s
Yes I have heard of Royce Geoffrey. He is a second rower who played with the Roosters Harold Matts in 2008,along with Tye Alchin. He is a good solid player and will be in the SG Ball squad, but whether he makes the 17 game day squad is a different story. There are some really good forwards coming through the club and the SG Ball is no exception.
I'd have to say that Tyler Sullivan and Chad Redman are the two key players in this team. Alai Taufaao from the Bulldogs is with you guys now so expect him to play at 7 instead of Shay Padberg, which would mean William Smith plays at fullback, or maybe Scott Griffiths. Jeremy Ma'a has plenty of potential, as does Jason Savin and hopefully they can step up next year. Ben Bradley reminds me of Jake Finn. A solid player who didn't get a run in SG Ball when 17, but will probably dominate next year and make a couple of rep teams along the way. Kori Barber is a very good player and I rate him pretty high. He hits solid and is very strong. I think he is every bit as good as Boyd Cordner from the Roosters but just has to show it more consistently. Dale Clacherty and Pat Mata'utia-Leifi are the picks of the backs for me. They are both unstoppable close to the line and are power players, they don't run around you, they take the fastest route to the line and that's straight over the top. Overall good solid team next year and should make the finals.
Bradley has the heart, but he needs a growth spurt about now.
He definitely shows a lot of heart when he plays. IMO next year will be his break-out year.
He was the reason Souths won the u/17's 2009 premiership .The side were wooden spooners in the 16's in 2008.I keep hearing Pat could be the best of the lot
I can't understand why all the Mata'utia's are considered to be outside backs, or centres at best.
They are all thinking players with great skills, so have much more to offer than wing play.
Earlier this year in the Harold Matts, Pat absolutely annihilated the opposition scoring something like 4 tries playing in the centres, which I think should be his position next year, but then the coach picked him on the wing. Now IMO that is not a good move because he was their best outside back and needed to touch the ball more. I think in the 2011 SG Ball side, Pat should think about moving into the backrow as he has the size, skill and strength to be very successful there.
This post makes no sense
He is a great centre, scores tonnes of tries and dominates teams from that position but you suggest he should be moved to the back row where there is less room and more defence?
My belief is that all the Mata'utia boys could have played in the halves if some coach had pushed them in that direction.
Even now in NYC, Pete often shows that he is the best reader of the game in the side, and he often does playmaking stuff from centre - even putting in tactical kicks and directing 5th tackle options.
The boys could be playmakers easily, but it's hard to do that from the wing.
Pete is the closest thing I've seen to Matt Gidley, just his hands, and ball skill. Chanel i think should be a winger and Pat if he keeps growing and fills out could be a mini Israel Folau.
I hope the youngest boy Sione has inherited his brothers' talents
how great would it be to have 4 mata'utias in red and blue....
