I think he will be a good signing.. Put it this way, he is 20 times the player Galloway is. So we are gaining something, at least.

How long do you blood the young ones for??

No definitive answer to that. You individualise it. The main thing is to not knock the stuffing out of their confidence. It takes a lot of personalised one on one work to successfully blood youngsters. They also don't have to stay up once tried, e.g E.T.

Year after year we see the "early winners, late losers" phenomenon in the NRL. Teams start on fire and fade, ergo, Sharks and Manly this year.

Early in the year is the time to do it IMO. Not with 2 or 3 rounds left when injuries and form have left you desperate and you have to throw them into pressure cooker situations.

i hope Raper doesnt muck around with him trying to turn him into a centre.

All the talk by Rogers after we signed him was that he was a centre in the Mark McGaw mould. Therefore, I'd say he has been signed to play centre.

Good reply! Winning the NRL is a marathon, not a sprint. The idea of trying new guys early is an excellent idea in my opinion. There is PLENTY of time over the season to try different players, and it is an idea I would like to see implemented. St George is the perfect example of recovering their season.

I know that many will disagree, but I would also like to see senior players be rested from games throughout the season, just to give them a rest. If there is one thing to be learnt from this season and that is the lesson of peaking too early in the season.

Hes a second rower not really a center

Well opinion is clearly divided so he plays both right? :)

I'll change the question. When he played centres was he on the left or right?

Hmmmm next year

1. Simmons- have always said he will get first crack and beleieve he will, and after 6-10 games will be fine.
2. Albert
3. Pomeroy
4. Scott
5. Covell- if he can't kick at 80% next year- even tho he is great with improv.
80% or goone.
6.Vag-This is the hardest posy. We have spent large $ on both players(so they MUST play) , both players are v good players. Dykes can't play anywhere else. Nige in the centres. Dykes may have been restricted by injury but I can't see that changing in the next few years. I like how vag goes straighter at the line but you can tell it is still a learning spot for him.Dykes can't really be on the bench cause where can he play? Is reshuffling the side(vag to centre, Pom/scott off -too much disruption or is it OK?). Dykes just falls away too much in defence and attacking the line when hurt and we CAN'T have that next year. Vag for mine - but maybe with some shuffling.
7. Nod
8. Ross
9. Kingston- improved every game - a find
10. Manua- smash the SH!TE out of em early. Noone will acuse us of being soft next year.
11. Williams- has shown enough improvement with more to come. Must score 8-10 tries next year.
12. Loo Loo- same as Cliffy- smash boy smash. Must score our back row is a scoring desert and it helps so much if your big boys can score.
13. Gallen- where every workhorse should be.

14. Nuts
15. Hutch
16. Bailey
17. Latu/Dykes

Coach- has shown himself to have not enough of the contingencies covered. What if....., It shows set plays and alternate routines are not hammered enough. His choice of players is reactive- Our game plans when things aren;t going our way, his ability to turn a sides attitude around and get them to focus on the IMPORTANT things is fair to bloody awful. The one percenters(kick chase- what coach in his RIGHT mind would let the crap we handed out be allowed- put pressure on or YOU ARE OUT- simple- but apparently not) are very ordinary. It shows a lack of discipline and that is set by the coach.
I have said all along he is a weakness and nothing has changed my mind.
A real worry, but hopefully his brain will expand.

Conditioning- VERY VERY POOR. If you can't kick chase for 80mins - you aren't in condition. Go back try again- GET IT RIGHT!

Nothing here very ahrd to rectify with the right - clear- thinking.

We will do better next year-we have a stronger squad. How much better IMHO is directly realated to how much the Coach and his staff improve.

Hilder is your man for that. But ATM it's a bit hard finding a spot in the team for him. Wonder if Kinga's got a boot on him.

Oh well looks like my job next year is to promote Pomerey as a 2nd rower. If he plays centre you will hear me winge every week... He is a back rower thats it. If we want a centre lets go buy one FFS. Stop picking him in your teams as a 3 or 4.

Hey, I'm new here, but heres my team for 2006;

1. Brown
2. Albert
3. Pomeroy
4. Scott
5. Covell
6. Vagana
7. Kimmorley
13. Gallen
12. Bailey
11. Williams
10. Ross
9. Dykes
8. Nutley

I'm not even thinking about the bench, in fact, seems like we're pretty good. Its just a question if the boys will f**k up just like they did this year. Unless we wear the sextro jerseys all year round, of course....

What is it with our club coaching staff. I thought you bought centres to play centre and secound rowers to play 2nd row. That plan of running a forward in the centres doesn't work now as it didn't previously, is it any wonder Bailey has turned out like he has.
Supercoach thinks he's the new Bennett.
