The word now is he is going to sign with english rugby and than link up with the tigers early to mid season.

Iam now not convinced he is worth the effort, to spend 7 years out of the game and than to come back mid season it would be hard to see much benefit for the tigers except media exposure for season 2010 and by 2011 he is getting pretty old for a back.

What happens come may 2010, the teams firing and Lotte returns to a fanfare and is playing for Bret. Anyway maybe time to concentrate on Lazarus or Mullaney for the no1

Moreover, both clubs have been linked with a move to sign Lote Tuqiri, the wing sacked by the Australian Rugby Union in July after yet another off-field disciplinary issue. Leicester are cautiously optimistic that Tuqiri will agree a deal until the end of the season before returning to Sydney to pick up his rugby league career with Wests Tigers and, were that to be the case, it could be another source of frustration for Irish.

Lote Tuqiri signs with Wests Tigers


IT IS news rugby league fans have long wanted to hear - dual international Lote Tuqiri will return to the NRL with Wests Tigers in 2010. With third-party agreements, the former Brisbane Broncos winger will earn up to $400,000 a season after signing with the Tigers for the next three seasons.

NRL chief executive David Gallop has ruled no player can have guest stints with a rival code, particularly rugby union, and then return to league.
It means Tuqiri can privately agree to terms with Wests Tigers now but he cannot formally sign until he returns.
However, the rule robs the Tigers of the chance to promote Tuqiri as an exciting addition to their line-up until the season is about to kick off.

Tuqiri will start 2010 on the wing with Wests Tigers, forming a formidable combination with big Taniela Tuiaki.

Still not confident for WT- Taquiri cant sign an NRL contract until conflicting sports code playing ends ie after short stint playing RU in Eng. On Lote's current form with the long protracted, drawn out negotiations and seeing who can offer the most money etc, you cant reassure me he will not go elsewhere if they (someone) offers more money than WT have agreed to in this intervening period.

eg Lote playes well over there and gets some good press- Japanese RU offer him $$$$ to go over there. You cant tell me he wouldnt chase that money rather than his intention to join WT. His form for $$$$ over principle is pretty well known.

We cant announce a signature because he will be playing union prior to his start with us.

I think we already look good. Adding Lima would make us a top 4 contender, needed to be taken seriously. I already think we have the right balance of youngsters and experienced heads now. We will definitely be a threat now.

Majority of what Lote will be paid, will be from a third party sponsor, as he is considered a marquee signing, exemptions can be made from the salary cap for him. Under the NRL rule, a club is allowed 2 marquee signings...

You cant judge his rugby league form based on his rugby union form.

He was much more devastating in league. So was Sailor, So was Rogers, So was Tahu.

Look at what rogers and sailor have done since returning.

We signed most of our weapon juniors on deals this year until at least 2011, 2012, so thats really nothing to worry about either.

This signing will attract sponsors, ticket sales, merchandise sales, and success. Lote Tuqiri is a dual international that should be welcomed by the fans.

3 weeks into the NRL season no one is even going to remember the circus that preceded his signing.
