If Spurs can afford Hazard, then surely Arsenal could.

Oh, regarding that earlier Sandro comment....
Funnily enough, he's still a better midfielder than anyone at Arsenal bar Wilshere.

Please.

If Wilshere, Song and Arteta are all fit that muppet would be no where near the starting lineup.

The guy's a defensive midfielder, was sent on to clog the midfield, and spent the whole time trying to be Ronaldinho. Seeing as he is supposedly a defensive midfielder i guess it'd be right to compare the two players from each team in that position.

Sandro - 13 (7 off the bench) games - 0 goals, 0 assists, 2.6 tackles/game, 1.6 int/game.
Song - 22 games - 1 goal, 6 assists, 2.9 tackles/game, 2.1 int/game.

I'll throw in Arteta as well seeing as he plays relatively deep for us too.

Arteta - 21 games - 4 goals, 2 assists, 2.6 tackles/game, 1.9 int/game.

The only players from your team with more assists than Song are Bale and Adebayor. Either way you look at it, both midfielders you seem to think Sandro would start over, have better offensive stats and defensive stats.

stats are from here btw: http://www.whoscored.com/

Fwiw imo a combined midfield would be Wilshere, Parker and Modric.

You're right though. We could afford Hazard. That doesn't mean we would go out and spend 25+ mill on him though.

How is the chairman supposed to brag about profits if we don't make any haha.

I'm not even going to dignify that with a thought out response.

It'll be interesting to see how the Villa at Barca situation develops. I wouldn't be surprised if he heads somewhere (back to Valencia?) and Barca grab Hazard.

20m, 25m, 40m, I don't care what the cost is, I'd just love to have him.

Podolski will (hopefully) be a starter on the left, with Gervinho and AOC on the right and Feo on the bench. Or :

Song Wilshere

Gervinho/AOC - Hazard - Podolski

RvP

Yum yum.

I read an article last week stating that RVP would be the only Goon picked in a combined team.

How things change in a week.

Your using statistics to dignify your argument, including total numbers and averages, but ignore that Sandro has had little game time and most of it off the bench whilst Song is a regular starter?
You also base your logic on one game where his team's defence was non-existent, he had been injured for about a month and was rushed into it early?

Using Bunniesman' logic, Sandro makes Parker look like a nuffie because of his game(s) against Milan. For a young player still adapting to the EPL, he's already shown he has the potential to be a much better tackler than Parker, he still works his butt off and he is a far better passer and dribbler than Parker already.
You should know many have the opinion that he could one day be a better midfielder than Modric. He's not now obviously.
As far as Arteta and Song go, the stats are inflated due to game-time and the difference between both teams; Arteta and Song are regular starters because they are the best Arsenal have at the moment, Sandro can't get a start ahead of currently the best/second best central-midfield partnership in the EPL. That and the defensive midfielder in our team rarely looks for the killer pass into the box, and rarely do they go for goal.

Bias comes into it but you clearly are basing much of your argument after the recent game.
What I find laughable is that I recall after the 2-1 win for Spurs at WHL against Arsenal, I made the same comment about Sandro and I recall a few of you agreed with me.
I understand though, after that game I hope I never see King over Dawson or Kaboul again :D

Haha don't worry I was half-trolling :) The reality was though that we were poor and you guys outplayed us despite your injuries. The massive problem for Arsenal is bit that they lost Nasri and Fabregas, but you replaced them with incomparable players, which is of course bleeding obvious. Compare that to us; we've retained our best players and we have a wealth of good midfielders. Modric, VDV, Sandro, Huddlestone, Livermore, Falque, Parker, etc; most of those players would start in your midfield. You guys have the better strikeforce though.

Atm i would let any of those players start over Ramsey apart from Falque and maaaaybe Livermore. Surely they couldn't play worse than he did on Saturday though.

All i'm gonna say is you better hope you make top 4 or i can't see Modric or VdV sticking around and you'll have your own Nasregas situation. For the record i expect you to make it and make it quite easily considering how poor us and Liverpool have been.

Unless we make some massive Jan signings i can't see competing with you, chelski or either of the manchesters.

Found it.
Obviously a LOT has changed since then, but my point is that you can't use one game as evidence to say one player is terrible. Arteta isn't so bad now eh?
Ramsey is still useless though :p

Doesn't Bunniesman constantly crow about how Arsenal are the only profitable top six club?

I read an article last week stating that RVP would be the only Goon picked in a combined team.

How things change in a week.

All it takes is one team to not turn up.
I wonder if Arsenal fans actually stop and consider; was it a terrible Spurs performance or a superlative Arsenal performance?
Both supporter bases will see it differently. My opinion is this; King and Assou-Ekotto put in their worst season-performances, Modric and VDV were very quiet, Parker and Sandro were outnumbered due to long-ball clearance strategy because of Modric and VDV, Saha and Adebayor had little good ball, Bale was awful.
I think there is a big case either way. Arsenal had an extra man in midfield and made it count, they were well on top by the time Sandro came on for Saha.

I think combined teams are stupid, but I'll indulge a 4-4-2 and a 4-1-2-3.
Friedel (better form at the moment)
Sagna
Vermaelan
Kaboul
Assou-Ekotto - been the best/second best LB this year in EPL
Lennon/Walcott - toss of the coin
Parker
Modric
Bale
Van Persie
Van der Vaart

Haha i did actually have a sentence about Sandro coming off the bench but i got rid of it. Stats are used as arguments all the time. I don't watch all Spurs games and i'd be surprised if you watched all Arsenal games. So of course bias will come into it. I'd be surprised if you find many neutrals who pick Sandro over Song though.

You also base your logic on one game where his team's defence was non-existent, he had been injured for about a month and was rushed into it early?

I'm not really. It was one sentence...

In any case. If you're team is getting raped and you're supposed to shield the defence you wouldn't be galavanting around with Bale and VdV like Sandro was.

Potential is overrated. Ramsey has potential but i don't want him anywhere near the starting lineup. I only saw the second leg of the Milan tie last season but i'm assuming he did pretty well if you guys didn't let them score.

You should know many have the opinion that he could one day be a better midfielder than Modric. He's not now obviously.

Maybe amongst Spurs fans. I've never heard that.

As far as Arteta and Song go, the stats are inflated due to game-time and the difference between both teams; Arteta and Song are regular starters because they are the best Arsenal have at the moment, Sandro can't get a start ahead of currently the best/second best central-midfield partnership in the EPL. Bias comes into it but you clearly are basing much of your argument after the recent game.

Again, i'm not. I threw stats in too. I don't watch every Spurs game and the games i do watch he's nothing special. Maybe i'm missing something.

What I find laughable is that I recall after the 2-1 win for Spurs at WHL against Arsenal, I made the same comment about Sandro and I recall a few of you agreed with me.

I don't think King was as bad as people are saying. He was maybe at fault for the Rosicky goal but there was nothing he could do for the other four, from what i remember.

I would still go with King and Kaboul. But that's cause i don't rate Dawson.

Did i mention Arteta? :?

Ramsey has his moments but atm i would prefer Rosicky, Benayoun and Wilshere over him at CAM.

I don't really get the point you are trying to make.

Overall your midfield is better. That's part of the reason you're 7 points above us. It's a lot more balanced than ours is.

I just find it laughable you think one of your subs is better than every midfielder we have used this year.

I agree with both those teams. Koscielny is better than Vermaelen though.

Wilshere would be in there too but i can understand why you haven't included him.

Suarez just dived to earn a penalty. Typical of the scum. But then Ches with an amazing double save, saves the penalty, dives to the other side of the goal to save the 2nd attempt. Incredible.

Irony is we're lucky to have a score of 1-1, but the 1 goal they did score was an epic fluke.

We've been so wasteful with the ball. But if we turn that around we can still win from here.

Szczesny has kept us in it.

Biggest shock of the night so far, Anfield actually classy and applauding Arteta as he is stretchered off with oxygen. Fingers crossed it's only precautionary, collided with Henderson.
