Great result overnight. We still have a better XI. But we need a squad to go well over many months. Flamini was excellent. Just the kind of leader we needed. And did very well as a DM protecting and organising the back 4.

Hope the next 20 hours or so are good.

If we get a crown jewel like Ozil along with a couple squad players we will have a chance to compete for trophies.

Good result. If it hadn't been for Lloris we would've have put 3 or 4 past them.

Second time this season (first being against City in Finland) we've seen Arsene line us up to soak up pressure on hit on the counter. Finally looks like he's putting a bit of effort into matchday tactics.

AVB fcked up big time with his team i think. A midfield three of Paulinho, Dembele and Capoue was always going to be blunt so he should've have gone with at least one of Holtby or Sigurdson. In saying that, they're both terrible so I can understand why he didn't. Also putting Defoe on for Dembele was pretty stupid as well. They weren't creating anything so why would putting another poacher on change things.

Ramsey is turning into a force of nature. Finished with more than three times as many tackles as their entire midfield combined (He had 7, Capoue had 1, Paulinho had 1 and Dembele didn't register a tackle).

Tough to pick who our man of the match was. Would be between Koscielny, Ramsey or Giroud for me.

Holtby is returning from injury and Sigurddson has been playing very poorly. Sandro is lacking fitness at the moment. Realistically, there wasn't much else he could have done. It goes to show how much we need Eriksen and Holtby, the latter should be fit to return to the top side soon.

Holtby terrible? Huh?

I'm very surprised Arsenal got Ozil and not someone like Benzema or a defender. Don't get me wrong, Ozil improves any team but the midfield you guys already have hardly needed 42 million pounds worth of strengthening. Seems like a very strange buy to me. Who have you guys got to fill in if Giroud goes down injured, or even Walcott and the fullbacks?

On that note, I'm sure everyone is ecstatic about Ozil, or in the bigger picture, Arsene actually spending money?

We have Sagna and Jenkinson on the right. Gibbs and Monreal on the left. In terms of wingers there is Walcott and Podolski and AOC and Miyaichi.

As for Ozil, he is that rare caliber of player that makes everyone around him better. He'll lead to the likes of Giroud and Walcott scoring more. He'll allow the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey play deeper where they are more natural.

This is a gamechanger.

After Uniteds dithering we can make a genuine push to be one of the top 3 contenders this year.

Any team with the best midfield in the league has to be considered a threat. I believe we can match it with anybody now.

Putting aside pure football reasons, even what this purchase does just for mentality is huge. Our players now know they play for a club that once again belongs on the very highest level. That inspires confidence in us and will make opponents respect us and fear us more.

We have shown today our period as a selling club is over, we are a buying club.

Ah ok. Fair enough. I didn't know Holtby was injured. I think he should have gone with Sigurdson over Dembele, who doesn't really add much at CAM. Imo he's better deep where he can beat a player or two and create overlaps.

I just don't see where your goals were going to come from. Obviously we only scored 1 but without Lloris it could have been 2 or 3 more.

C'mon. Holtby's pretty crap. Has he scored or assisted in a competitive game you guys yet? He's tidy on the ball, but so is Denilson.

There weren't any strikers left. Benzema didn't want to come and Real didn't want to sell. Maybe if they had brought Suarez but there was no way they were selling Benzema. Can't think of any other strikers that we should have gone after. Higuain could have done a job but for 34m Wenger thought we could get Suarez for not much more. Obviously that didn't eventuate but i can see where he was coming from.

The only defensive position we need reinforcements is RB. But Flamini can play there. CB is looking ok at the moment. Koscielny is still a monster, Mertesacker is so underated it's ridiculous, Vermaelen is a decent enough backup and if we need Sagna can play there. People either don't know, or just forget, that we actually conceded the second least amount of goals last season.

Haha yea not sure what i'm happier about. Us getting Ozil or Wenger finally breaking the bank. As good as Ozil is I think just relieved some money was spent. Hopefully it's the start of something as opposed to a one off.

You guys will be alright. As soon as AVB sorts the midfield out and Lamela begins starting games i think things will start clicking. Hopefully it doesn't take too long cause i'd much rather see you competing for 4th instead of Loserpool. Good luck for the season bud.

Sorry missed this bit.

Striker - Giroud, Podolski, Walcott, Bendtner. Nothing special but Giroud, Podolski and Walcott are all good enough to score goals.

Left Wing - Podolski and Cazorla. Plus Ryo if we really need him.
Right Wing - Walcott and AOC. Plus Gnabry if we really him.

The wings are alright. 2 decent options for either side plus some juniors.

CAM - Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Chamberlain and Rosicky. Pretty stacked.

CM - Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Flamini, Chamberlain and Cazorla. Could do with another holding midfielder but Flamini is a good enough option. Plus there's Zelalem who i wouldn't mind seeing more of at some stage.

LB - Gibbs, Monreal and Vermaelen. No issues.

CB - Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen and Sagna. Could do with another a junior coming through but we've loaned or sold all our other CB's. If we reaaaaally get f**ked Jenkinson can play there.

RB - Sagna, Jenkinson and Flamini. Could have done with a better backup than Jenkinson but he's improving so i'm happy enough.

GK - Szczesny, Viviano and Fabianski. No idea what Viviano is like but Wenger obviously rates Szcz so we were never going to go out and buy one an established GK like Begovic.

We're in a bit of a state at the moment because we've already got a few injuries to players that would either be starting or really close to starting (Arteta, Vermaelen, AOC and Podolski) are all out for the next month or two.

Ozil is a good player but his signing smacks of the arshavin signing a bit to me i.e. Wenger kept whiffing and whiffing and HAD to sign someone before the window closed.

Ozil doesn't get too many goals and he doesn't have Ronaldo and Benzema to feed here.
