RJ, people went to the R&C because they had kids and u-18s can't get into Sterlo's.. trust me I know!! :x which I thought was pretty stupid because they were under 8 they couldn't walk up to the bar and order a drink FFS but rules are rules.

Under 18s are allowed at the R&C so we went there.. and we had a blast before and after the game..

To you all that were there.. It was great seeing you all!! :D

As would alot of us, but as has been previously advised children are not allowed in Sterlo's.
Catching up with friends with kids is in my opinion a little more important than giving the LC the money for 1 week!!

As would all of us HJ.
Maybe that's something the club can look at in future.

Suity

Silly question, and I only came to me Sunday Night, but could everyone have gotten into Cafe 88 on level 2? Now I know some would not like the fact that they were not outdoor, and hence could not smoke, but kiddies could get in, drinks can be purchased, as well as coffees / hot chocolates, wine, and food.

The area that was proposed at the Rose, has the same things it is an eating area hence the kids are allowed in, I would think Kids would not be allowed into the Bar / TAB / Pokies area of the Rose?

MITS, the thing Cafe 88 lacks in that comparison is a any TV screen if I recall, for people to watch the preceding game (Manly v Roosters).

Hopefully it won't be long before the club reveals some plans for a child-friendly area on game days for the 2010 season...

A cage in the foyer should suffice. Lock 'em in there as you enter, proceed to Sterlo's, hand in your ticket on your way out.

Sweet.

Sure, but I think the club might have its hands tied on that one. (Please notice that I am just once again playing the Devils advocate).

Registered Clubs Act 1996 said:
For the purposes of section 50B (2) of the Act, the particulars and requirements prescribed are that the notice, apart from any heading and signature, contain the following words, and no others, in capital letters not less than one centimetre in height:
THE REGISTERED CLUBS ACT 1976 PROHIBITS ANY MEMBER ENTERING THE NAME OF A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS IN THE GUEST REGISTER OR PERMITTING ANY SUCH PERSON TO BE IN A PART OF THE CLUB PREMISES DEFINED UNDER THE ACT AS A BAR.

So that Rules out Sterlos, and any sort of Bar arrangement people are expecting on the First Floor if indeed the club is made less like a casino and more like a club (which I take to mean removing Poker Machines from certain Rooms and Balconies if financially feasible). Even the old Cumberland Lounge was a bar, so the question is what could you see changing. Sterlos if it was to have a TAB should have a Bar, should it not?

So I ask where would people expect it to be and what facilities would be on offer, obviously you could not have a Bar.

I only ask because I have been going to Clubs since I was Knee high to a grasshopper, but always in the Dinning areas, any pokie rooms or drinking area's I was never allowed in to.

It was a great night outside of Brennan's legs packing it in (well he did walk a hell of a long way over a couple of days and I don't think the cold helped). Good to catch up with everyone and the game itself just added to the excitement. Great night, Brennan had a ball and wants to come again next week.....

It was just an unfortunate situation! We wanted to catch up with friends who had kids, so we had ONE WEEK away from the LC.

Yes our first choice was to go to the club, but circumstances prevented it. Not the end of the world, and no one's fault in particular!

Not entirely true.... The Leagues Club, well Tingha Palace in particular, did enjoy our patronage. ;-)

I guess to me a kid-friendly area is one where kids and adults can sit together, and enjoy the types of facilities on offer at the club - but within the law.

I have memories of hanging around in the area that is now Cafe 88 on game days before a match (champagne breakfasts, and even after their demise and following renovations). There was enough space for people to sit without having to be eating and then immediately moving on, and it seemed connected to other parts of the club where adults could temporarily move to put on a bet or get a beer.

The area could operate like a beer garden - where adults can bring their beers purchased elsewhere back, and kids remain welcome. All they need to put into that area is a plasma showing sport (instead of club ads or keno numbers).

there may be ways around the wording of the legislation with regards to minors. They are definatley not allowed in any poker machine area but at some clubs I have been to and pubs also, as long as kids stay at least a metre from the bar they are able to access nearly all areas.

It may be something as simple as providing a snack bar where hot chips etc can be purchased. Remember there is a bar in cafe 88 and this is no problem.
