Edwards 9 - Another outstanding game. Developing into a very complete player. Want to see him keep it up for the rest of the year.
Mansour 6 - Big fan of Sauce but he went down the pecking order today. Not his best game and Staines is going to be tough to drop. On borrowed time with To'o out.
Crichton 8 - Another devastating game for kid wonder. Impossible for the Sharks edge to handle.
Naden 8 - As with Critta, massive game from Naden. Docked a point for a poor miss on Goodwin that was thankfully not punished.
Staines 9 - Dream debut. Blistering pace is not something I'm used to seeing in a Penrith jersey. Seeing him burn several players down that wing had me screaming at the tv in a way I haven't in years.
Luai 8 - In everything
Cleary 7 - A bit flat, probably the injury in part. Also missed Goodwin for his no try. Plays at a baseline level no matter what these days though.
Tamou 7 - Plenty of hard work as usual. Middle held up well and he's a big part of it.
Koroisau 7 - Quieter than normal is still very good.
Fisher-Harris 7 - Good game as usual. Didn't stand out though.
Kikau 7 - Not as dominant as usual. Still some big hits and runs, but might need a rest. Titans game could be a good candidate.
Martin 7 - Good game, again without standing out.
Yeo 8 - Love how he's playing. Provides a consistent link from the middle to the edges with his passing and added a nice bit of footwork to his game.

Leota 6- High energy. Low minutes.
Burns 6 - Well taken try. Has a nose for finding the line but hasn't quite found his feet. Good prospect.
Leniu 7 - Incredibly damaging but low minutes. You can see the breakout game waiting to happen.
May 7 - Sublime bit of work for Staines 4th. I was against bringing him into the team but I think he's earned it now.

Burns playing out of position, so I've been lenient on him for his errors.

A frustrating game to watch as we just couldn’t get into a rhythm, partly because the Cowboys played well, but also because the Panthers were a bit flat. A couple of points:
  • The loss of Whare and then Edwards really knocked us for six. We just never managed to settle down in attack. Ok, we sucked. Lost of misplaced passes, over runs and a general clunkinesss plagued us during the game. We had enough possession and line breaks to win by a bigger margin but we lacked the pace and skill to finish the Cowboys off. 9 line breaks could have been turned into a lot more if we had Staines and Too playing.;
  • The fact the Panthers won the game, given my prior point, is a testament to our forward pack and our overall resilience. The forwards just kept rolling on, picking up where they finished the last game. JFH 246m, Tamau 166m, Yeo 139m, Leota 132m. Leniu, run for 89m in only 25 minutes! They are relentless and they are actually good enough to be the base for winning a comp. We just need the backs....;
  • Cleary put in his best performance in a Panthers shirt. Big hits in defence, running strongly (137m), astute kicking and an escape from the in goal. He did it all. He is proving me wrong, because although he really isn't very creative and is not a good ball player, he still a very effective halfback.He just needs pairing with players who have ball playing and attacking skills. The Titans game will probably highlight this, because Api is injured. It will be interesting to see how he copes.
