Who needs David Middleton when we have the Frog.

Our ratings reflect what has happened to us over the start of the season.
JFH, Kikau and Tamou have been consistent throughout the year.
Those that were dropped for poor performances have turned their season around. Edwards, Mansour and RCG.
The "kids" we have bought in have gone well. Question is are they the reason we have improved or are they the recipients of an overall improvement of the team.
Hooker is still a problem for us. Whoever we have there we dont rate.
The Two players we moved on (DWZ and Blake) we only rated as average.

Thoughts?

The notable improvement for me is the halves.

DWZ and Blake miss out on the winning run so hard to judge them.

They were on their way out of the club too, so their performances dropped accordingly. I think most of us were kind to Blake, in particular, in the early rounds, but our patience ran out as time went on.

Yeah that happens when you lose games. The fact the halves have a 2 point improvement says a lot.

Our back 5, specifically our wingers, are crucial to our side getting momentum through the middle of the park. Our season changed on Mansours form & To'o introduction. They still make errors but are very rarely getting dominated in a tackle. Edwards does his bit on kick returns as well.

The idea was obviously to give us attacking options both side of the field. It just didnt work out for whatever reason(s).

Blake has had plenty of good games on the right through his career without Kikau. At one point he and DWZ had a fantastic right edge partnership going aswell.

He had reasons for swapping Cleary and Jimmy early in the year also. Wish we could know if those same experiments would have worked out better had we attempted them now rather than early in the year when nothing was working.

It would be interesting to know the 'truth' behind DWZ & Waqa Blake being moved on.

It was not denied DWZ for whatever reason had a falling out with Ivan Cleary which is interesting given he publicly expressed his 'delight' about Ivan's return.

Waqa missed a train session and was dropped accordingly for one game, got himself injured and next minute out the door. His exit is a strange one. Fully fit and used properly could and should be an offensive weapon. I think his form suffered on the back of the fact we were basically dreadful prior to our recent bounce back but to be moved on there has to be much more to the situation.

Edwards 9 - Great game. He's back baby! One minor yip cleaning up that grubber but some excellent takes under pressure, two outstanding try savers and 200 odd run meters. Oh and a brace to boot.
Mansour 8 - Another great game. Loads of meters and some excellent defensive reads. Unlucky not to have a try too. So good to have him back.
Whare 7 - Solid return. Was tested defensively several times in the first half and passed every time. Kelly's not the easiest player to handle. Need's to get the kick out of his game though.
Naden 7 - Another good game. Looked dangerous in space and defended well. Unlucky not to end up with yet another freakish try. It's definitely a pattern at this point.
To'o 7 - Brought the ball back with heaps of energy. Great work for his second try in particular. Docked a point for ordinary play on that 40/20.
Luai 7 - Has to be in the halves. Provides a real contrast to both Cleary and Maloney. Will look less erratic with more game time.
Maloney 7 - Huge effort backing up from Origin. Good to see him defending better for his club than his state.
Tamou 7 - Loads of tackles and great bit of work in the first try. Having a stellar year.
Kenny 6 - Went ok. I like him starting the game and moving to the backrow when Egan comes on. Not sure where he fits if Egan kicks on like he might do.
JFH 6 - Unusually poor performance from Fish. Several (very) stupid penalties. Still tackled all day as usual.
Kikau 7 - I like him getting a spell through the mid game. Like a lot of games this year he's looked a threat without truly being unleashed.
Winterstein 6 - Had some good moments and got more minutes. Shocking pass to bomb a certain try in the first half.
Yeo 7 - Rock. Tackled all day.

Egan 7 - I like it! Looked like Cook for a minute there. I want to see more of that. Tackled and passed well more generally.
Leota 5 - Another quiet game. No mistakes but not a lot of time or impact.
RCG 6 - Thought he put in a good shift.
Cartwright 5 - Not a ton of time or impact. Made some good tackles including a key one on Wallace(?) close to the line. Geez he's a big unit though.

No big stand outs for me. Thought Winterstein impressed again, don't see him losing his spot for now. Guys like Jed Cartwright probably won't get an extended run.

Ivan seems to like him and Kenny starting for their defence and switching out for offensive players later.
