I think Lomax is a safe enough option if you are banking on him being the goal kicker, I wouldn’t even be too sure that Garrick would even make it into their team on a wing with Cody Ramsey definitely having a hold on one spot where as the other side he would be fighting it out with Ravalawa and Peireira at the minimum.

I think he would have more chance at keeping his spot in the Manly side on the right, Tafua would have a lock on the left wing spot but we also know how injury prone he is at this stage. Saab is the other notable option but I really don’t rate what I’ve seen from him so far. Garrick’s goalkicking might be what wins him a spot as Manly’s right winger!

This is all assumptions too of course haha

I have a stack of cheapie outside backs. Saab was chance but I went that pom Knights have because he should see more gametime.

There are some really good cheapie options. It is just picking the right ones. Laurie and Staines were no brainers really

Yeah it’s safe to say that Charlie Staines will probably be in most teams on SC for Round 1, with his price and potential it’s almost too hard not to pick him.

Laurie might be a bit more of a point of difference player, especially for us Panthers fans who know how quickly he will probably displace Mbye in that Tigers team if they choose to go with him in the 1 to start the season instead.

I have also picked the both of them in my team lol

11/20 spots in the league have now been filled which is great so far, let’s hope we can have the league completely full come Round 1 of the season.

One tip I can give to everyone is that just because a player might be better than another player in the actual sport, doesn’t necessarily mean that will translate over to points in SC. Some players of course it still will but in the past some of the best players have been notorious for not being good scorers in SC.

Once you figure out how the scoring system works (which seems to be super subjective sometimes too with who gets what points for certain plays) it will become a lot easier for everyone!

Will have to remember that.

Kikau is a great example, some games he will score monster points and others he will score poorly. It worked so well using him as a decoy in attack for us last season on the field but something like that won’t translate to any points for him in SC.

Couple of other things to keep in mind for the newbies:
1) Your Top 17 for each week is finalised by a rolling lockout. Once a match starts, players from that match are locked in, and can't be changed/subbed etc.

2) If someone in your Top 17 doesn't play, you will automatically get an Auto Sub.
This means that the lowest scoring player from outside your 17 will be automatically swapped into your team at the end of the round.

Handy if someone goes down during the warm up, or if you just forget to update your 17 during the week.

3) You need to set a Captain and Vice Captain each week.
Captain scores double points.
Your VC becomes Captain if the Captain doesn't play.

This can be used strategically by always playing your VC early in the week (Thursday or Friday), and if they have a monster game, change your Captain to someone who hasn't been picked before the rolling lockout hits.

So your VC's points will be doubled, and you will get an Auto-sub come in as well.

I've seen Captain swaps result in 300+ point differences, and it can be a real game changer.

This is a great post, all super necessary points when it comes to SuperCoach!
