For all we know they had a drunken argument and she went to the cops to make trouble for him. She might be a drama queen. Or, he may have hit her. What actually happened will be established by the police and courts and then appropriate action can be taken.

Wests Tigers can confirm that Robert Lui has been charged by NSW police this morning with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Club and the player in question have co-operated fully with the police investigations. Both Robert and his partner Taleah will be offered counselling by the Club.

Given the nature of the allegation, Robert has been immediately stood down from all Club duties until further notice.

It is important however that the legal process is now respected by all parties and as such it would be inappropriate for us to be making any further comment at this stage.

Wests Tigers have today been made aware of police allegations against NRL player Robert Lui including domestic violence matters.

Lui has told the club that he will vigorously contest charges laid against him today as result of those allegations.

The matter is now one for the Police and the courts to manage. The club will respect the legal process and respect the rights of everyone involved by not entering into any further comment.

Robert Lui has been relieved of his club duties until further notice so that he can properly concentrate his attention on the matters in question.

Wests Tigers has an inclusive and family orientated culture and does not condone violence against women.

The club will do everything in its power to respect the rights of all parties involved in this matter and to offer appropriate support.

Wests Tigers will continue to monitor this situation.

WESTS Tigers NRL halfback Robert Lui has again been charged with assaulting his girlfriend, the club says.

Burwood police charged Lui following an alleged domestic assault at Strathfield last night, which has left his career in limbo

Police were called to Lui's home on George Street, North Strathfield, at about 7pm, where they found a woman with swelling to her face.

It's alleged the woman was assaulted by 21-year-old Lui.
