Of course the coach is a factor, and Kearney has proven he's not a great coach. Not yet. But he's only in his second season. He will have learnt a lot in the 18 months he has been at the club, and going through all this will serve him well down the track.
It's the same kind of experience that would have improved Jason Taylor as a coach if he hadn't turned out to have the temperament that led him to punch on with one of his players.
