Luke Walsh

Sadly no. ;-)

If Penrith didn't have Lewis they would be in a lot of trouble.
Walsh does nothing but stand / pass and then a kick on the 5th.
Rarely if ever does he take the line on, throw a nice cut out pass, put a player in a gap.

Thought I'd dredge this post up.
thommo was pretty much spot on with his comments about Walsh.

Obviously his kicking game has us where we are this year but he's also shown at various time throughout the year that he does have a passing and running game.
When he evidently had a free hand to use it on the weekend against the Rabbits he was excellent and very difficult to defend.

Walsh has a lot of work to do, as well with defense, but hopefully with a bit more freedom next year he can develop into a truly dominant half.

You blokes don't seem to win unless Walsh is doing 'nothing' for you.
He must intimidate oppositions with his imposing physique.

He had his best game ever against the Bunnies last Friday.

Some of the little things he did were perfect.

I thought some of the comment from the OP had some merit although Walsh has greatly improved since then.

One has to remember the arduous task it is in being a half and at the same time, finding your way within the playing structure especially when new players are involved.

Although I can't be too confident about winning the premiership this year,Walsh, and this Panthers team, was always going to be a work in progress and it will bear the fruits in next years comp.

If Walsh would play like he did against the bunnies every game we would be a much better team. He should take on the line more, he's very quick off the mark and has a good step, a bit like soward.

Walsh has a good running game he just does not use it enough.First half brilliant Second half ordinary and the results where there for all to see

He runs when they present him a staggered line (usually on the back of someone else doing something good) or when they try to rush his kick on the last, his ability to step through set defence is nothing impressive. His inability to distribute the ball to our outside backs remains the Panthers biggest problem.

He is solid in attack but nothing special. A good short kicking game. Speed hump in defence.

What's your percentage of wins with Walsh and without Walsh in the last two years?

I suspect 60% with - 20% without.

Pure co-incidence of course.

We can use the same argument with petero pritchard waterhouse jennings and get the same stats.
People are basing the views on what is presented by Walsh every week.As i said if he run it more it would open his options up and free more space on the outside for jennings

Luke Lewis is far more crucial to us winning then Luke Walsh. Even with us having better depth at lock then we do in the halves, we miss him far more.

Unfortunately Walsh is our best option for half until our talent scouts step outside the square and find a kid that can really play.

He'd still have to pass it to Jennings, something I can only remember him doing well in one instance this year, when it's not broken play or out of dummy half Jennings best ball comes from Lewis.

Your point of Walsh running in order to open space out wide may be true, we've made a lot of breaks off of Gordon unloading in the middle of the park and players then immediately throwing the ball wide. It seems Gordon taking it to the line compresses the defence enough to open up opportunities out wide. Walsh shaping to run may achieve the same thing. Walsh doesn't seem to like being tackled though.

Coming from an unbiased view of Penrith, you need to lose Walsh for next weeks game.

He can't tackle, and all he offers are his high kicks. However I've seen both Graham and Burns do the exact same kicks.
Graham and Burns can both tackle though, and both aren't afraid of getting tackled or taking the line on.

Walsh is creating too much pressure on Lewis and Kingston, he offers you guys very little.

He was pretty poor tonight, even his kicking game was off, but worst of all, he didn't take the line on at all, not even once, very disappointing...

Luke Walsh is deadset useless dead weight sh*t. I can't say such things on PI - and I definately can't now since I've been banned once again by that Fwit barnie. If I ever find out who he is I'll give him more than a piece of my mind.

Walsh is a kicking machine and that is it. I said this over at PI 3 weeks ago - with the way we play - we may as well make Lewis our halfback and cut out one step.

Kingston to Walsh - Walsh in his dinner suit waltzs a few steps then feeds the ball to Lewis who has the defense in his face.

Cut out Walsh and Lewis gets the ball with space. Fair dinkum - Walsh is horrible and that fwit C?*^ of a coach can't see it.

Screw this f'ing lot. Wake me up when we have sacked Elliot.

Walsh will be selected next week.Graham should be there but you can not put a talented player in one of the way of a elliott master mind signing like walsh
in reality it will not matter as the injury toll out of tonight is huge

waterhouse season
pritchard 2 weeks minumun
lewis possibly gone at least a week

Andrew Farrell made it clear on PI Wade Graham was surplus to requirements hence the decision not to resign him. Having taken such a stance there is now the selection panel will select Wade Graham to replace Luke Walsh unless Walsh is injured.

Everyone connected with the Club, the moderators on PI and those who largely don't have a club have been patting each other on the back about how great a job we done in our retention of 'key players'. Sadly, retention is only one part of this equation. Another critical component is recruitment and to that end we have again failed dismally.

Sadly, I have been saying the obvious for some time in that we are two to three quality players short of being a really serious contender. Games like this evening only serve to confirm the obvious.

Despite the obvious problems we will have to overcome, I do think we can beat the Roosters. We will need our fair share of luck but all is not lost.

Elliot has screwed this club and this team with his innane signings and crazy favouritism.

Screw Walsh, Purtell, Burns and even Smith. They all are varying degrees of suck.

What should have been a golden era has been well and truly ruined by that prick.
