Was holding off on this until wizardman produced the list of worst movies, but had some time up my sleeve and couldn't wait any longer.

PM me your top 10 favourite comedy FILMS - points system will be simplified to a basic 10 points for a #1 vote all the way down to 1 point for a #10 vote.

The thread title says Top 50 but I reserve the right to change it based upon how many votes are received. I would rather it be kept to just films that are wholly and widely regarded as comedies, rather than films that are just so bad you can't help but laugh.

I think it's safe to say that films like Peter Jackson's pre LOTR efforts such as Bad Taste and Brain Dead (I think?) are definitely classified as (black) comedies, though I don't expect them to garner a great number of votes, still they qualify in my books, however Friday the 13th Part XXI etc. does not, regardless of how laughingly bad the effects are/were.

Let it rip lads, countdown will commence when I feel we have enough votes.

Got about six or seven on my short list so far. No real surprises...just honest, well intentioned comedies...no "was that supposed to be a comedy or not" quandaries.

ADDN: I'm glad you restricted this poll to just films...no TV shows or cartoons (unless they were in a movie format). I feel the LU's Greatest Villain poll should have been restricted to films as well. Sorry Misanthrope :(

Most of my villains came from books so I'm glad he did what he did. Not all of us are huge film watchers.

10 comedies should be easy though.

Actually wasn't as bad as I thought.

Although I'm pretty sure I have missed some and will realise when the final count is done.

One movie is already standing out from the others going by the votes already received

Just submitted my list, so hard to whittle down to 10, but half of these were on my alltime favourite movies list I think so didn't have much room (unashamedly biased towards 80s/90s parody style movies, which were my lifeblood growing up).

Was very to whittle it down to 10.
Some that missed out:

Caddyshack
Happy Gilmore
O Brother Where Art Though?
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Mallrats
Life of Brian
When Harry Met Sally
Death at a Funeral
Raising Arizona
Office Space
There's Something About Mary
The Castle
Trading Places
Uncle Buck
Planes Trains and Automobiles
The Big Lebowski

So many good comedies.
