I`ve always had a big wrap on Crocker. He`s not just tough, he`s extraordinarily skillfull - he`s even played a few games at five-eight! Very underrated player IMO.
we may as well ask Greg Bird what he's doing aswell keep those types away from Parra
would players be into having backloaded contracts? .... would they want ot forgo earning money now? .... I don't know if we are that "on the brink of anything special" to make players want to give up a bit to make room for that one extra player
plus I would imagine it might make it harder to palm players off to england if their contracts were backloaded
i understand that not every player at the club has been clean i can't see the unwanted sh*te that comes with players like Crocker Bird Gallen etc ......we;ve had enuff with timmy
i also imagine players on the more lucrative contracts like to invest the extra money they earn (not that there is alot of investing to be done right now, but there are investment options still available) .... so getting the money upfront is far better - and i would think their managers would be advising against backloadinggood point, especially if their form doesn't warrant their upgrade..
The problem I see is that some players actually budget their year based on what they earn especially when they have to pay mortgages and or support families.
yep i know threads about Crocker he might bring a bit of mongrel but also a lot of unwanted publicity with him .....chicken wings anybody?
Dd you watch the 2007 Grand Final? See the hit he put on Brett Stewart? Legal or not it really put a game winner like Stewart off his game. Name me the last time one of our players made someone watch for them in defence.
woddy --yes true but was it legal do we want to scrutinised as much as Storm?
Not wanting unwanted publicity? Still happy to have Hayne, Finch, Cayless, Hauraki, Paulo, Grothe and even Hindmarsh in the team? All have had their own forms of unwanted publicity at various points. That said, when was the last time Crocker was in the media for the wrong reasons?
woddy--all have been in the media spotlight but no grubs there
Truth is we should be lining up and offering him a decent match payment deal for this year and offloading players for next year to fit him in.
The flipside however is the reason he was trying to go to the UK in the first place - his body. Part of the reason he will retire if he can't get a deal in the UK is his alleged inability to cope with the training to keep him at the peak fitness due to ongoing injury concerns.
woddy--he's way past his best and would rather get a midnight tan than put in here in aus and play his heart out for the EELS
That said the powers that be should be lining up to get him if he wants to play.
