Manly caught over the cap - Brett Stewart essentially a free agent

Stewart, Taufua, Lyon, Matai, Williams, Foran, DCE, King, Ballin, Kite, Watmough, Stewart, Buhrer. Rose, Galuvao, Mauro, Fa'aoso, Tonga, Lawton, Horo, Lawrence 21 on maybe higher then Minimum wage.

The rest if they are F/T Would be minimum wage. Hansson, Sene-Lafao, Chisholm etc. I fail to see how they are even close to the cap let alone over. For them to be over means the higher paid are on too much & 1 or 2 need to go.

By the sounds of it a lot of idiots on this forum, yourself included, believe Manly are going to have 35 players in their top 25. Manly have signed a lot of players, most will not be part of the NRL salary cap and will probably not get a run in 1st grade.

I'm well aware of how the top 25 works, I'd find it hard to believe though that Brenton Lawrence has traded in his first grade contract in QLD to relocate to NSW so he can play for less money in Reserve Grade.

But sure, I'm the stupid one. What a ridiculous assumption on my be-half to make

He wouldn't be the first player in history to leave for reasons other than cash. PLayers with little experience often go to where the opportunities are greatest, to both build their own careers or to enjoy some success. MOving from the Titans to Manly would be highly attractive on both counts.

It's pretty simple guys. The Eagles needed to offload 2 big signings but were only able to get rid of 1. From the moment Kite's Tigers deal fell through they were in trouble. It's not intentional. It's not rorting. It's not stupidity. It's trying to get the best bang for your buck.

It's not?

Hinging the registering of Brett Stewart's contract in the hope that

a) Brent Kite would agree to mutually terminate his contract (which he always maintained he was unaware of and didn't want to) and;
b) That there'd be no hiccups in contract negotiations (which there always are)

is the definition of stupid, reckless and poor business.

This really isn't the end of the world and I'm sure they'll sort something out but this is no one bar the Sea Eagles fault and it's incredibly stupid that they've got themselves in this position.

The deflection of blame/attention and inability from Sea Eagles fans to admit this is quite a big stuff up on their clubs be-half is quite amazing.

Of course not, but my assertion is the far more realistic and common. It was hardly stupid (your words) to suggest such a thing.

I also have little doubt that he'll play quite a big role in the Sea Eagles first grade prop rotation this season. There's no doubt the first grade opportunities in the Sea Eagles front row stocks would have been very appealing and I can't see him playing much reserve grade like you seem to think he will.

Les, I doubt that entirely - unless Hoffman returned on his old wage - which I doubt. I have no problem with the ethics of their last premiership.

Canterbury signing TRex must be the bargain deal club of the moment - considering they cannot rely on cheap juniors shining in their debut year.

And Doggiesbro - I'd happily list the Dogs buys against the losses you list in the same period if I could be bothered.

LOL, yeh cause Reynolds, Jackson, Finucane, Taupau, Kasiano, Barba have just been plain horrible :lol::lol:

Off the top of my head (forgetting others as well)
Ennis, Pritchard, Graham, Morris, Eastwood, Hannant, Keating, Hodgkinson, Turner, Halatau, Kimmorley.........

Biggest shopping trolley in the NRL.

You do realise your talking about players from 2009 taking over from turn around in 2009.

Replacing blokes like O'Meley, Mason, SBW, Mataiu, Roberts, Patten, El Masari, Utai, Ryan, Tandy, Koupartis, Armit, Hickey, Tonga, Hughes, Hodgson, Millard, Gordon, Idris, Warburton, Paea.

List goes on too.

Lets not forget Hannant, Kimmorley aren't playing with the Dogs.

As I said same past few seasons we've recruited less then we've lost.

For 2012 recruited Gavet, McDougall, Graham

Lost - Idris, Roberts, Ryan, Sezer, Armit, Hodgson, Morrin, Paea, Warburton, Smith, Harrison

For 2013 recruited T Williams, Perrett, Inu,
Lost Wright, Stagg, Foster, Goodwin, MacDougall, Lett.

Infact if we didn't get picked apart by the Roosters + Mason + SBW walk out I doubt in 2008 we would of bought half a new squad as we lost pretty much our entire cap.

Hell look no further then Roosters & Eels for biggest spenders these days, Hoppa 800K, Sandow 550k, SBW 1 million, Folau if the land him 600k+.

Blame Des

Blame the "man" at fault? Blasphemy

We all know he was leaving for money sooner than was announced, he left us a f**k you in a ticking time bomb in the shape of big back ended contacts for elderly players (Joe G and Kite),I wouldn't pay either over $100k, fact is they aren't really that great, its irrelevant that Joe was our best prop this year, he had zero competition other than when Kite played against Melbourne or when King felt like taking a hit up, our props were sub par, Watmough and Glenn Stewart carried us up field, as did Buhrer and one game She-Rex did (vs roosters)

All the contracts Des wrote should be null and void and the dogs stripped of the minor premiership for blatant cheating in a different form than the last time they cheated, it was a house of cards created by a man who was picked up whilst languishing as a teacher and a Penrith reggy, he would have amounted to nothing without Manly giving him his shot, probably still butthurt Toovey took his job after a premiership win as a ,his only motivation is money and success for himself which is quantified by what his players do

I give props to David Perry our P-plate general manager (CEO) for his hard work and many successful contractual wins,I have faith this matter will be sorted soon

As for the original cheats Des and Todd's relationship is falling apart at the seams after Todd rang the premiership bell to soon, Des is the biggest control freak in Australia and would have been super pissed about that, his mantra is under the radar, he prefers to have his juggernaut hidden until it busts the grand final open, Todd exposed the team to massive scrutiny not that Bellamy would've missed such weaknesses, but all the pressure was on the blue and white after Todd and the fans hit the bell

Des is a revolutionary, he as a player was the first with a proper fitness regime as he figured if he could outlast the opponent he would win more than he lost, it translated to his super fit (minus 2010) teams as a coach, in 2010 he used a more scientific approach to fitness which was awesome for about 50 minutes a match, then they fell apart, hopefully he experiments more with science but I wouldn't bet on it

He is also risk averse, he doesn't ever drop under performing players, his best team on paper have a job for life, Tony Williams being the perfect example in his days on the wing

I think him and Bellamy are infact married, they like the same things, coach the same way and both like contractual work that to some would be considered cheating, Bellamy would be the Bitch or feminine part of the relationship as he looks like an old lesbian anyway

If Des was on fire I'd piss on him, I'd just avoid the burning bits, Canterbury can keep him for life or until another club wants to pay more

As for Crusher, his loss is minimal, he is a man who the almighty buck was bigger than what Canterbury did to his club, if Kane was my kid I'd have stopped at nothing to bring the club to its knees financially and on the field til it folded, we have recruited intelligently and strongly for next season without him so they can keep him too, or atleast til Des leaves, he will be remembered for a 2 metre dropout in state of origin and a beard that rivals even Wolfman

Do I blame Des the "man" who wrote these contracts out that are hamstringing us? You bet your life I do, do I want him back at Manly? Do cancer patients want their cancer back? My guess (and personal experience) tells me no, not in this lifetime

All they need to do is sign Penn as a player on a negative contract for -500k. That will offset the cap. I bet there is no rule against it ;-)

If Eels can sign Israel and deflect that amount to next years cap then I would be double standards if Manly couldn't do the same...

Lol yeah i'm butthurt because I talk

I could just have a opinion on the matter,a very well informed one

We didn't lose a grand final, my post season sad was over a long time ago, before Melbourne had won the comp, I'd rather miss a grand final than lose one

Me and my club cancer free since 2011

Blame Des huh, its just more poor business from your club you nut.

Des won you two premierships in four years and yet you act like he was part of a conspiracy to destroy your club. Only loopy Manly fans could make a villain of a coach who had success like Hasler did with the Eagles.

If people hate Manly more than the Storm or the Doggiesbro when those two teams cheated YOUR CLUB and the NRL in general, ruining the comp for a good few years, then who wants to be popular? Worthless title.
