Why on earth did they sign horo,Tonga etc if they were $300,000 over the cap?

Yea there is more to this, or a massive f**kup either way something doesnt make sense. Im no saying its a conspiracy, its just that im not sure how you can accidently one day find yourself 300k over the cap.

Seems pretty obvious that Manly were relying on a player transfer that was almost a certainty but didn't go through. There can't really be another reason other than Manly being extremely shit at book keeping.

Granted it is very difficult to punch in 25 salaries into a calculator, or if you want to get a little crazy, put them in an excel spreadsheet.

The jealousy of Manly never stops. It obviously doesn't pay to win half of the last 4 decided premierships or win a premiership each of the last 5 decades or fail to win a wooden spoon. I would rather have discussions with the NRL about a potential salary cap problem before the event than be caught blatantly cheating like Melbourne or the Bulldogs, But keep criticising by all means if it makes you feel better.

The Manly players were all on backloaded contracts because Des started plotting to bring them down 5 years ago

Teams can be $100-$200k over the cap without attracting anything more than a fine anyway. So they probably only have to shave $150k off their wage bill.
My tip is they'll back end a couple of deals and it will be sweet. Looking at couple of the deals they have going, it won't be hard. Put it into the following years, when the cap has gone up again.

This is only the case when the blow out has come about by an unexpected amout of incentive payments. Such as a couple of players making origin debuts and getting bonuses and when clubs get a bd run of inuries and they have a high number of Nrl Debutant s again being incentive payments.

This is a situation where Manly are already over the Cap with their sign on fees.

The problem partly came about because Manly when they were negotiation with Brett Stewart were expecting the Wolfman to sign with Leeds and Mauro also to sign an ESL contract. Their negotiations both fell over , Wolfman because of his ACL. Both exercised final options to stay and this has put Manly way over their heads. They tried to shift kite but after originally agreeing to go to the Tigers he changed his mind.

It is being alleged that Manly's problem gets even worse the following year - 2014. They have the ugliest back ended contracts in the competition by far. For example it is alleged that Buhrer and Taufau's 2014 playing fee are each more than $150k greater than their 2013 playing fee. You get bet London to Brick, Buhrer will get cut at the end of 2013 and he knows it.

If Sheens hadn't been canned Manly wouldn't be in this situation. They took a risk and came unstuck. It happens. The question now is...who are they going to let go?

This really gets old, especially when it's not even the first time it is posted in this thread.

apologies for your yawn, I did not read through the entire thread.

Having said that, like many I will always think of the chip on Stewart's shoulder whenever the 2011 Grand Final is mentioned.

I reckon I'd have a massive chip on my shoulder if I went through what he went through and got treated the way he did by the CEO of the game and many of the fans. I'd put money on most people having a similar chip on their shoulder under similar circumstances.

Most people I know are adults who would grow up and move on with their lives, particularly when there are much bigger issues in the world....
unemployment, relationship issues, poverty, bad health, crime and violence in society....
just to name a few

Like many, when I think of B. Stewart I think of someone who was (and still may be) a good football player and who may have once copped a raw deal but through his own actions since has kept the bitterness alive in a way which does not help him or anyone else.

Shame really but life is a tough room, plenty of other people have much bigger issues to overcome.

Yes, we all firmly believe you & your acquaintances gather to ponder solutions to all of the worlds familial, societal and political ills.

Of course, that must be after youve all gathered to perceptively diagnose the personal shortcomings of a sportsperson you dont not know from a team who you clearly despise about a situation youve never encountered.

Bravo ! We all think that much more highly of you now.

I rate your approval almost as highly as that of Bunniesman.

Just had a look but could not find Gallop mentioned elsewhere in the thread. Can you help ?

BTW is Doggiesbro the only Brednotboughtdogs fan in the world who regards the offloading of Kouparitsis in 2009 as a loss ?

Blame the "man" at fault? Blasphemy

We all know he was leaving for money sooner than was announced, he left us a f**k you in a ticking time bomb in the shape of big back ended contacts for elderly players (Joe G and Kite),I wouldn't pay either over $100k, fact is they aren't really that great, its irrelevant that Joe was our best prop this year, he had zero competition other than when Kite played against Melbourne or when King felt like taking a hit up, our props were sub par, Watmough and Glenn Stewart carried us up field, as did Buhrer and one game She-Rex did (vs roosters)

All the contracts Des wrote should be null and void and the dogs stripped of the minor premiership for blatant cheating in a different form than the last time they cheated, it was a house of cards created by a man who was picked up whilst languishing as a teacher and a Penrith reggy, he would have amounted to nothing without Manly giving him his shot, probably still butthurt Toovey took his job after a premiership win as a ,his only motivation is money and success for himself which is quantified by what his players do

I give props to David Perry our P-plate general manager (CEO) for his hard work and many successful contractual wins,I have faith this matter will be sorted soon

As for the original cheats Des and Todd's relationship is falling apart at the seams after Todd rang the premiership bell to soon, Des is the biggest control freak in Australia and would have been super pissed about that, his mantra is under the radar, he prefers to have his juggernaut hidden until it busts the grand final open, Todd exposed the team to massive scrutiny not that Bellamy would've missed such weaknesses, but all the pressure was on the blue and white after Todd and the fans hit the bell

Des is a revolutionary, he as a player was the first with a proper fitness regime as he figured if he could outlast the opponent he would win more than he lost, it translated to his super fit (minus 2010) teams as a coach, in 2010 he used a more scientific approach to fitness which was awesome for about 50 minutes a match, then they fell apart, hopefully he experiments more with science but I wouldn't bet on it

He is also risk averse, he doesn't ever drop under performing players, his best team on paper have a job for life, Tony Williams being the perfect example in his days on the wing

I think him and Bellamy are infact married, they like the same things, coach the same way and both like contractual work that to some would be considered cheating, Bellamy would be the Bitch or feminine part of the relationship as he looks like an old lesbian anyway

If Des was on fire I'd piss on him, I'd just avoid the burning bits, Canterbury can keep him for life or until another club wants to pay more

As for Crusher, his loss is minimal, he is a man who the almighty buck was bigger than what Canterbury did to his club, if Kane was my kid I'd have stopped at nothing to bring the club to its knees financially and on the field til it folded, we have recruited intelligently and strongly for next season without him so they can keep him too, or atleast til Des leaves, he will be remembered for a 2 metre dropout in state of origin and a beard that rivals even Wolfman

Do I blame Des the "man" who wrote these contracts out that are hamstringing us? You bet your life I do, do I want him back at Manly? Do cancer patients want their cancer back? My guess (and personal experience) tells me no, not in this lifetime

You might be right (I couldn't be bothered going through the thread to check) and if so I apologise. Regardless it's a pretty well worn joke.

So when someone cops a raw deal they are supposed to shut up, do nothing, not react, not complain, not ask for fairness, nothing? What's to stop others from getting a raw deal, or even himself again getting a raw deal in the future? If the recipient of that raw deal can do nothing about it and can't even talk about it because they'd be keeping the bitterness alive whats to stop the perpetrator from continuing those actions?
