My history is hazy what did Brian Smith and the Eels do to Jamie Lyon?

nothing. Brian Smith had a fall out with Crusher because Crusher got the sh*ts with some of the young talent that was leaving and Brian signed some nuffies to replace them. Crusher got sacked and Jamie Lyon lived with Crusher when he first came to club and was best mates with one of crushers sons and supported Crusher, so tried to get out of his contract to go to Manly

Women of Manly - Ellie - Partner of Jamie Lyon

So when he decided to leave how did you feel about it? Moving back with him to the country - how did you cope?
It was a crazy few days because during that game I went into hospital after having a miscarriage. Jamie came in when he found out after the game. He told me then he didn’t want to continue with Parramatta anymore, but I was kind of not with it, so I was like "Yeah What ever " and didn’t think he was too serious. Then the next day he had told his old manager and Parramatta, so I realised then he wasn’t mucking around.

The media were chasing him around everywhere so we decided to get away for a few days, we went up to the gold coast and spent some time with family so he could decide what he was going to do with his future.

A few weeks later we moved to Wee Waa, which was a huge change for me, I hadn’t even been there before. But I enjoyed my time there and met some great people.

Not gonna say anything about what Brian Smith may or may not have done, but Lyon quit footy because of the trauma of the miscarriage. His own agent said at the time he was prone to rash decisions [http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/15/1079199163056.html] so when he realised quitting footy was not the best way to handle things, the fact that he didn't decide to go back to parra suggests he was less than happy about the way the situation had been handled there. He then played some country footy, went overseas, and came back 2 years later to manly. So maybe do your research before you spout nonsense next time.

I don't really care who did what first. I don't know why anyone goes to rivals' forums to stir up sh!t. There are about 20+ dogs fans making arses of themselves on the Manly forum with a few randoms (Parra, Roosters) thrown in for good measure.

Because everyone hates Manly and you care.

I'd say it would be a first but it could extend to the point of Ha$ler being de-registered by the NRL. That is highly unlikely but there could be hefty fines (and we all know De$ wouldn't like that).

Anyone who thinks the contract negotiations with the dogs happened over a few days is simply dilusional.

It's a moot point. Manly had numerous opportunities to resign Des, who said he wanted to stay, and the incompetent bunch of hacks running the place decided against it

So where does it say he no longer wanted to play for Parra due to this above. Read what it says, he told her he didn't want to play for Parra anymore. Nowhere is the miscarriage linked

Wow. Manly falling Magpies style to a club who wouldnt know what a junior looked like. Throw is Easts and you'd have the perfect feeding frenzy!

Manly's board is f*ked. They have handled this with all the ego and carelessness that Qantas did last week. That is the problem. One can understand loyalty to the coach, but unless you are addicted to the taste of your coaches sperm like Darius Boyd, there also has to be an element of club loyalty. Put this way - the future legend status that Lyon, Watmough, Matai, Kite, Ballin and the Stewarts has at Manly has to have value. I would be shocked if any of them left Manly before the pension topup years.

That said, what is it with Canterbury's addiction to Manly halves ffs? And more importantly, what loyalty will Canterbury get? Cleal is as loyal as Charmayne Pavlisi's vagina. Dymock and the existing coaching staff have been given a use by date, and while it's normal for coaches to come with staff, it's not normal to say to an incumbent that whatever success you bring will amount to nothing.IMHO neither board has invested in loyalty.

Back to Manly. Any club that thought it was a good idea to poach John Ribot deserves the curse of the dead. Damn shame Manly fans that you cannot enjoy this premiership. Then again, Wests never got their shot again after Arko called.

This will not break Manly as much as it wont make canterbury. There is not a premiership for either of them, but Manly's future looks bleak.

It doesn't take a genius to infer that one thing led to the other. Why else would one of the brightest young prospects in the game just decide out of the blue that he doesn't want to play anymore?

Believe what you like though fella. By the way can you find anything remotely resembling proof that Manly poached him from Parra? Particularly stating, as you claimed, that it happened while having 3 years remaining of his Parra contract, and not 2 and half years after he left the Eels. Would love to see it.
