They say that the players are not to be held accountable. Greenburg must have got an earful from players union Cam Smith. With no points deduction there is no punishment
I can't see how the players would be accountable, their managers on the otherhand....They say that the players are not to be held accountable. Greenburg must have got an earful from players union Cam Smith.
So if he was cleared of any wrongdoing, why was he given an official warning?NRL ceo said Barrett has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Rothfield jumping the gun...again.
Maybe he promised Lewis Brown a house? So if he was cleared of any wrongdoing, why was he given an official warning?
This is utter bullshit. The only true penalty is points deduction. Otherwise with wealthy backers, they really don't lose much.Link to the NRL release on this matter - https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/03/26...to-manly-sea-eagles-over-salary-cap-breaches/

You also can't tell me this isn't happening at basically all clubs, the managers have a large say in how their clients are paid and who they sign with.
Funny how yet again, it was a third party that tipped the NRL into what was going on.
If the police hadn't have been investigating Manly for other reasons and found out about these extra payments, the NRL would never have known. We really need a better system because it's clear that the NRL can't police the system they have without external help or a disgruntled employee tipping them into something being wrong.
Would be funny now if the tax department decided to weigh in and hit some of these players with an audit and bill them for unpaid taxes...
Greenburg said on the TV conference that he has nothing to answer for as he was put in numerous awkward positions. So if he was cleared of any wrongdoing, why was he given an official warning?
The easy way to fix this is to get rid of TPA's and publish every players salary. But the NRL won't do it thanks to the power of the managers and the RLPA.
