3yrs for $500,000 - i haven't seen much of him but what I have seen has been pretty good - is that a fair assessment ?

Is he worth $160k per year? I have not seen much of him. Does he have any sort of long kicking game?

Could he be any worse than Lyon/Williamson/Menzies at 5/8 ?

No real kicking game as mullen does most ... but he is good off 4 cushions so will fit the Des style

No kicking game to speak of, has a good long passing game and can step off both feet, we would've liked the have kept him but I think with Dureau and Mullen looking likely to be the long term halves combo, and Walsh in NSW cup it was a no brainer to let him go especially considering Dureau, Walsh and Mullen are all around 21 years of age and Bails is 26

No chance in hell he's worth 165k/year, unless it's performance based. From what I've seen of him, looks like he could be a solid first grader at best, or turn out to be a dud. Given he's around 25 or so, the latter is probably a bigger chance.

Isn't $165,000 what good, solid first graders get these days anyways? It won't get him far on the northern beaches though. Maybe a small, 1 bedroom unit in Dee Why or Brookvale!!!:D

I think he could be/already shows touches of being a better player than his brother. I doubt he'll reach the lofty representative heights, but he is dynamic on his feet through the middle. He's scored 5 tries this year, all of which came in 2 games, plus another triple in NSW cup before his call up. Considering the interest in him he's easily worth the 165k. He's exactly the type of player Manly have been shunting into 5/8 except much better at it than those that have been tried. Great passing game, footwork, vision, strong defender for a half.

I'm glad you guys signed him, we don't need him and it's good to see his talent get a go. His injuries are the only concern.

No idea if he is worth that.

He is in great form at the moment, but in the grand scheme of things is our back up 5/8 behind Mullen.

Knights would have kept him if they could.

Simply impossible to keep him as a benchy or injury back up.

Awesome. Steve Bell hopefully has a juicy UK pension lined up and Jamie Lyon can play in the centres next year.

165 isnt alot of money... so i dont see how people think that it is.
I would say manly have a 'decent' signing. Can slot on back row too!

Exactly, 165k is pretty good for Bailey if you ask me, well done Sea Eagles.

The average player wage is 140k, so 165 for fairly decent player is good.

it's a great signing for manly at that price. he's just what they need outside orford and he will provide awesome service to matai and lyon in the centres. he has a superb, crisp passing game (possibly the best at our club at the moment) - his cut out balls are like bullets.. and his running game is excellent too. he was never going to make it at the knights with the quality halves we have coming through at present, however i think he will shine brightly at manly and surprise a lot of people. he's exactly what they've been looking for. his only weakness is his kicking game - or lack thereof.

He is a really good signing...Very good player. We have halves and back rowers to burn so we had to let him go, but he has a future. Im honestly surprised he didnt go to England for significantly more money.

Belly was past it three years ago.

A handy pickup but he's hardly in the same class as Mullen.
