Maori Squad for WC Opener???

Has anyone seen what the Maori team is going to be for the World Cup Opening ceremony?
I presume it will mostly be the side that played the All Golds minus those called into the kiwis.

But who is joining the squad?

Good question mate ... I've been trolling around looking for any news on them, but there's jack sh*t ... sad indictment of the powers that be in terms of lack of promotion for the gig...

Anyway they assembled in Sydney on Sunday, then travelled by coach to Canberra which will be their base till they come up Fri for the game on Sat as SFS.

I was told by someone in the squad that Stosic (Titans prop) & Rick Thorby will be added to squad

The Maori team are probably trying to work out who is available for the game. Before they name their team.

They a lot of people unavailable due to injuries for the first game – factor in the loss on Nightingale, Locke, SKD on standby for kiwis and I hear Harrison it to be brought into kiwi squad (either for Halatau or Kidwell I assume).

Hopefully Nightingale, SKD and Harrison are still available for the maoris and they bring stosic, thorby and royal in to the squad.

The first three are class/experienced and the latter props are hardnosed.

I really hope Jesse Royal gets a go.
He hasn't got a run in the NRL for next year, but he really deserves a rep game.
He would be the form prop for the Knights this year.

I only know the backline - Bronx Goodwin, Kenny-Dowall, Chase Stanley, Karl Johnson, Jordan Rapana, Arana Taumata, Rangi Chase.
Bronson has been called up to the Kiwi's for Sa. Wairangi is coming into the maori camp tomorow.

Karl Johnson should switch to the forwards - the guy is huge and too slow for the backs.
I think he is on a mission to play for every club in the NRL.

Your probably right there. But he was running pretty freely in the back at the Maori Tournament.

He played for The Knights last year, cronulla this year - i think he came to the Knights from the Cowboys, and was at Norths before that.
He is a training paddock star, which is why he can always find a club, but he doesn't get stuck in on the field. Very low workrate.

Well, he still gets a start for the Maori's and I or you don't. Must be impressing someone.
Impressed the hell out of me the first time i saw him playing reserve grade at the Knights.
Never pushed for firstgrade though, despite looking great the few times he touched the ball.

Nah Drew that was the lineup for the All golds game a couple of weeks ago ... I know that Locke and Kahu are out due to injury and Harrison has gone up to the Kiwis ... luckily they've managed to retained SKD ... they'll need him!!
