Round 1 the most important thing is to bag the 2 points and we did that. We’re always going to have some scrappy games especially early in the year but we came out on top late in the game. The team looks fit though, our forwards looked really strong in that last 20 mins.
Our forwards really do look fitter than ever if still undersized against most packs. JSaf being the exception and he looked cooked 10min in to both his stints which is a worry. His lack of lateral shift in defence will bite us at some stage

I actually thought KPP was pretty good last night... Didn't help that he had no one backing him up in support the few times he looked to offload
Yep me too. There was that one spot in the first half where he was begging for support with the arm free. Ponga got there late and was clear, but was 3 steps too slow and KPP had by that time turned to look on the inside, where of course we were void of options also.

Looks like Frizell is undergoing a change to his game very late in his career. Was playing much more of a link-man to quickly shift the ball to our playmakers, not just tucking it under his arm and running. We'll get another 2 years out of him if that's the plan.

Yeah, definitely looks like we’re trying to preserve him for as long as possible and I’m all for it.

It seemed when Frizz went off, Phoenix went onto that role and Brails was hooker.

I think moving Friz to the middle was the right call but I’m not sure about lock. Tbh I’d play him off the bench. Would be invaluable to the side to have his experience come on when our starting props are off.

Having the option of Elliott off the bench is hardly a bad thing. Can cover the entire backrow and hooker if it all goes to shit out there. Not sure I like the idea of Croker or Jones losing their much deserved spots over it though.

Frizell is a future prop as in future is round 2, bench prop, Lucas and KPP are 2nd row, Elliott and Croker are 13, bench is Crossland, Jones, Frizell and Croker/Elliott with Hetherington in if Elliott out

While every top 30 needs a few blokes like Jones and Croker, I don’t think we can carry 2 of them regularly in FG, especially on the bench where impact is needed. Too similar. Hetherington’s errors drive me nuts, but he definitely offers more impact. Before Friday I would have gone Jones but I think I’d go Croker now as he can also cover lock.

I’d go:

8. JSaf
9. Crossland/Brailey
10. Leo
11. KPP
12. Lucas
13. Elliott/Croker

14. Brailey/Crossland
15. Frizz
16. Hetherington
17. Croker/Elliott
