No way Brooks will be in the 17 unless Benji is going in with an injury. If that’s the case Marshall shouldn’t be in the side.

Out of those bench forwards they’re all sizeable bar McIntyre. McIntyre is a mad dog who needs another 5 or 6kg. The other guys are good size lads, bloke call
Clark small, he is 110kg. He is a lump.

If we run with McIntyre, Mikaele, Brooks & McQueen it's a small bench. Clark is fine. I'd have him in the team.

Still Madge to me makes some pretty big calls and if Brooks drops off and Clark comes in the team looks better. I'm worried about Lawrence in the centres but he was good last week.

I can’t see Brooks being on the bench. He’ll either be starting or having a holiday.

Madge to the dogs? Looking for a challenge

I've got no problem with these guys being left out:

Clark - Gives great effort but just is not big enough to dominate other forwards.
Chee Kam - slipped off tackles and made crucial errors in last two matches
Taylor - same as Clark. There was a run he made first set of the second half last week. 100% effort but got smashed.

I feel for ET especially because he would thrive in another system where there are decent props to lay the ground work. We don't have that luxury.

Re McQueen - I still shake my head that JT signed him when he was carrying a serious neck injury and to a 3 year contract. It's nothing short of a disgrace. The last game I seem to recall McQueen playing was against the Chooks last year. He bludged in centres all night and took very few carries. If he gives up that level of effort again you'd think it won't be long until Blore takes his bench spot.

Surprised that Brooks is left out. Thurston or Joey Johns would struggle in their prime behind our pack last week. Interested to see how Walters goes although Im not sure at 26 he can bring that much to the table. If he was up to NRL level why wasn't he blooded sooner? You could make a case that someone like Tyson Gamble has shown more than Billy at ISP level.

Blore has more promise than Oliver Clark IMO.

I've seen enough from Clark to know he's got heart but not quite the level of talent. Time to try someone else.

I'd like to see Blore given a go as well.

It's amazing how McQueen is still here. He was signed by Taylor. It feels like ages ago.

@Pezz70 - they said that Barrett was signing with the Dogs but starting next year. Madge should stay here.

If Maguire is not at Concord in ‘22 he will b the coach of melbourne.
I was being facetious, given the run on coaches we’ve had since Tim Sheens you wouldn’t write it out of the script. I think Madge has a good deal
Of personal integrity, if we can keep him till 2025 (providing civilisation as we know it lasts till then) he’ll have us a premiership.

Maguires contract ends in ‘21 the same time bellyache is expected to put the cue in the rack re his coaching career.

Maguire & Bellamy get on very well & having done his apprenticeship assisting Bellamy, Madge has the credentials that would make him a perfect target by the storm to succeed Bellamy as coach.

A lot of talk about Brooks 9 miss tackles , Mbye was just as bad, yet he is not held to account for his piss poor performance last week, he is about as useful as Braith Anasta was during his time at the WT, but paid a sh#t load more for doing nothing .

I think the selection of McQueen is due to there being a shortage of outside backs any injury this week and we would have no one who has played in the backline. He can play centre or second row like Lawrence. Its kind of our own doing with Thompson gone and BJ suspension along with other blokes out of form. I actually think if by game day if everyone is fit Brooks will be replaced by Clark.

One concerning thing is so many players are going from not even in the 21 to starting then back to being 21st man the week after.

Like Taylor isn't even mentioned. So it's like a combination of you play to standards or your dropped aswell as testing out those who want to be part of those standards.

I think (hope) its more about giving players game time, incase they are required on a more permanent basis. They are on the payroll and should have a chance to show there stuff you never know they may have improved, you may pick a gem amongst the rough, after all we are not lighting up the competition.
Anyway, I hope all the new blokes kill it and set us on the path to glory.

I don’t mind that. Can u imagine how keen to impress those players coming in are after not getting a go for a while. For me that’s a plus. I think with Madges past policy of never changing the team year in year out, unless there’s injury or more recently with the backs, when your form drops, I think some of the players may have tended to get a bit stale.eg Brookes and a Benji and others. It’ll prob give the regulars a lift too.

The only thing I can put that down to is that we are f**ked for centres at the moment and since Talau is returning it will sure up the edge a little better as Talau has done OK on the wing. I haven't been totally enthused by Mbye at centre, but he has been better defensively than last week and I'm wondering if having the kid outside him put pressure on his game. Mbye only missed 3 tackles too by the way.

Bringing Talau back onto the wing instead of into the centres was the right selection to make IMO.

I have been wondering whether Luke Brooks coming on at hooker like Ben Hunt does may spark something new and motivating for him he would actually have good speed out of there and his short kicking game may become better if it were from dummy half. It may end up being something we need in the long run.

We don’t need to experiment with hooker now but it would Lift Madge to legend status if it worked. Imagine it. I think u will always find a gem if u keep mixing it up..

I think Benji and Walters could settle in for a while in the halves...I watched Walters at 6 at the storm He did all the basics well and is a fearless tackler..That’s all Benji needs re taking the pressure off..He said at one stage there the only half that made life easy for him was Robert Lui..(post prince). Hopefully this is a good fit...

Benji was halfback for all his time at the dragons starting 2014 for 2 1/2 years ..He helped get them into the finals for the first time in 4 years. That was also during the time he had lost his speed / step. Just relying on slight of hand fast paced game no look / cut out passes etc etc and leadership same as now
He partnered Widdop who i didn’t think was much good then. I think Benji was too unpredictable for him. I reckon he got psyched out with Benji being Benji. To me Widdops kicking game was shit and he was full of errors. They never really gelled..Widdop obviously excelled after Benji left and he became captain. Walters is made of sterner stuff mentally I think.

Brooks should’ve been tried at 9 ages ago.No reason he can’t stake a claim to the no.9 jersey post H Grant.Hes a strong defender has speed & strength to exploit lazy fatigued middle defenders.Hope he finds his niche at 9.

Luke Brooks cannot defend..hence why he was dropped to the bench. He is a five eighth..not a halfback..not a hooker
