God there are some sooks in here.

I’ve been part of this forum for 17 years and seen some pretty dire seasons, but the whinging now is as bad as it’s ever been.

I think whats frustrasting compared to previous years is that we finally have a team worthy of a top 8. Gun players in the forwards and the backs but our halfback is just letting us down.

Few observations, kicking on last tackle is dominated by Pearce not that kicks from Mann and Ponga are any better but they give variety. If kicking inside 20 on last tackle isn’t working why not run it and make them run it out, Lost two to HIA first half but only used King for last 10-15 making tired side and meant keeping Best on despite injury to ankle? That has been a problem for him, missed having Sione on bench to cover positions, hope he is fit for next week even if Fitz is ok, Moga is out even if Best is injured, bring Tuala in to centre with Shibs and find a winger, Toa. Thought Crossland went ok, pity he didn’t play 5/8, he should, Mann is ok full of effort but would be same at 6 or 9 and Randall was going good until HIA, Saulo’s best game until sin binned looked good, silly play.

So Pearce is going to get us to the finals is he?

What was that thing Einstein said?
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity?

All bar the Roosters are games coming up that should play us into form.

You didn’t answer my question. Hoy and Crossland are going to get us into the finals?

Alright I’ll have a go. Hoy, no he doesn’t offer enough with his lack of passing game to trouble the opposition. Apart from that one game at fullback against Penrith Tex has been pretty much a non-event at utility. He tries hard and has a lot of heart, but he needs to develop his game further, which I’m confident he will over the next few years. Kurt Mann on his current form shouldn’t get dropped anyway.

Crossland on the other hand definitely could make a difference to this team. He’s an out and out halfback with a good passing game and a nice grubber. Does he need to win us the game on his own? No. He just needs to do what Pearce can’t at the moment. Build pressure through his kicking game and play what’s in front of him instead of premeditating what to do 4 tackles ago. He needs to kick for touch so our forwards can have a breather, instead of just putting in a lazy kick for the back 3 to take on the full before our forwards have to tackle again.

Really there’s a few basic things we need from our halfback and I have no doubt at all that Crossland would be capable of doing them behind our mostly good forward pack. At the very least he wouldn’t panic and overthink things like Pearce does.

So, Crossland and Pearce in the halves and Mann at Hooker - simple.

I agree that Pearce can’t carry a utility at 6. Said as much in previous weeks.

I'd partner Crosslands in the halves with Pearce and tell him 2 things, "tackle well and kick well. That's it. The rest of his game will develop from there" ....I stole that from Cooper Cronk for advice to young halves.

Mann to utility. He's playing well and gives his all but at 5/8 and with Pearce playing like shit its not of the greatest benefit to the team.

My feed dropped out so missed most of the match. But saw enough to know that Enari Tuala will develop into a special player for us. Early days in his career right now but he has touches of class. Looking forward to his development under AOB

What Saulo did was stupid but gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because the previous set Vunavalu put great pressure on our kicker and I think Saulo was just trying his best for the team.

I hope Best is going to be okay next week because he is gun. Tuala also doing great on the wing. Hunt has also been superb.

You reckon we could play a old Nokia 3210 at hooker and they'll break as well?

Just another day at the office for the big man, we're lucky to have this bloke.

I know Dsaf was being talked up as "over shadowing " the Klemmernator" but the big man takes the first hit up of every set. Along with Barny the ultimate competitor.

There was a tackle late in the game where Klem was being held by 2 defenders but still walking backwards towards their goal line, referee called held? Yet he didn’t call held when Hunt was lifted from the ground and over the sideline.

Wasn't long ago and people wanted Enari punted. He has been good for us every week he has played. Holds his own for a smaller framed bloke.
