I've watched every Knights game since the 2003 season and that was by far the worst reffing I have ever seen.

We have won 7 of the past 8 and only lost to the best team in the comp and all I can think about was the reffing.

Ten in the bin for what? It's a contact sport, there's gonna be some contact. There was barely if any a penalty in that and he gets ten in the bin. Some horrible calls in that game.

However, we had enough quality to win the game. Came out strong and finished strong. They only scored seconds after the send off and were awarded a try when they clearly stripped the ball.

Broncos has 50 tackles in our 20 and really scored no tries. Great stuff from the boys. They have some talented forwards but we dominated them for most of the match in the middle. Haas and Pangai would look great on our team.

Have recorded the game so not yet watched but checked game stats - Brisbane wins penalties 14 - 7. WTF????

I laugh most weeks when people complain about the refs but tonight was a deadset stitch up.

Anyway, we're a good enough team now that a shocking performance by the refs doesn't matter.

Has Moga been going alright in NSW Cup?

Ordinary at best. Sione in the centres is bad medicine, another rubbish read led to the broncs first try. And I wouldn't be moving Hunt either. The development players are available for selection now, a shame Star Toa has been coming back from injury.

While I’m still fuming about the Gavet sin-bin I also want to make a positive comment and say that Mason Lino had a really top-notch game for us tonight. His goal-kicking was sublime and he really linked up well with Jesse Ramien, which is something our other playmakers have struggled to do.

If he keeps turning up performances like that I don’t see how Kurt Mann gets to keep the starting 5/8 position (imo).

From the presser I also heard that Levi will be back next week, so if Ponga is given the green light and we have our best spine I would go with something like this...

1. Ponga
6. Lino
7. Pearce.
9. Watson (has been great for us so keeps his starting position until Levi proves otherwise)
14. Levi.

Subject to availability of course. If Ponga is still out you have Mann at fullback.

Ponga will be in origin camp next week and I imagine given the week after off too.
If Levi comes back in I see it being
1. Mann
6. Watson
7. Pearce
9. Levi
14. Buhrer

Dropping Lino right after he had hid best game for us? Watson has been on fire playing hooker and Buhrer was ordinary today...

I'm assuming Pearce plays game 3 so we are gonna be awfully short spine players on the coming weeks but I trust Lino will do alright. Maybe it has to be:

1. Mann
6. Sione
7. Lino
9. Watson
14. Levi

Just putting it out there.

Lino played well but, yeah, I see him being dropped if everyone else is fit (not saying I agree).
It is good to have options though.

Gavet sin binning was Klein pandering to the NRL's latest crackdown.

Eye gauges, crusher tackles etc. As soon as the tackle happened he sin binned him, no discussion prior. And his comment was hands all over the face, several penalties.

Was a bullshit knee jerk PC sin bin to make sure they are looking to enforce the latest crack down.

Watching the replay, their second try was from an extremely obvious strip. You could literally see the raking motion, but they glanced at it very quickly.

Never seen a more obvious effort to ref a team into a game.

Not sure why Klein sent Gavet off - first he indicated Gavet had deliberately gone 'high around the head' - but if that is the standard for a send off Joe Tapine will never play another NRL game. That bloke attacks the head/neck of every ball carrier he attempts to tackle.

I f**king hope they are consistent with that from now on.

I’d rather just admit it was a wrong call.
Plus you can’t say it’s too many penalties without giving a warning first.

Will the club make an official enquiry? Imagine we don't make the top 4 due to points difference of like 8 or something. The Broncos did not deserve to score a single try that game.

My thoughts on the game - the refs killed it for me

we know that organized crime syndicates have been into match fixing various sports from European soccer, tennis to cricket- you name it . After Ryan Tandy a few years back it would be VERY naive to think they arent into NRL games. If we have any doubt please see exhibit A - Newcastle Knights v Brisbane Broncos Saturday June 29th 2019.

That ref should be investigated and sacked.
