Since the last origin game to last night,Hayne who at times comes across as a self absorbed wanker has played two games to Teds zero.

What a mutt. An absolutely disgraceful act. All good though, f**k him. If only someone would show some balls and drop him for the season. We did it to someone who bleeds black and orange, why not for a bloke who is a traitorous malingerer?

Yep, make his last game for us, the last game he played.

I'd say that for Woods as well, but at least he is having a dig.

Its not as if we are winning when they are playing for us.

A win is a win.

Was impressed with:
Twal - 41 minutes, 11 runs, 122 metres & 21 tackles
Eisenhuth - 62 minutes, 12 runs, 99 metres & 35 tackles
Liddle - 40 tackles
Brooks - 19 tackles

I don't care if Newcastle were shit that win was morale boosting for the lads.

How good were marsters, Suli, einsenhuth, twal and Brooks in particular.

NFI how woods was our man of the match

Its interesting. I was most impressed with the guys who are hanging around for next year.

Brooks did OK - he led the team well, his kicking needs work, but he was relatively composed.
Lolo did OK to - he certainly had a go -
Eisenmuth, Marsters and Twal did very well.
ET must have made a thousand tackles.

I haven't seen the games lately, but is there any story as to why McIlwrick isn't starting anymore?

Getting clear of the spoon is our only challenge for the rest of this season. So this is a good start.

TM I think Ivan is just testing our Liddle as a starter - nothing untoward.

Honestly, I thought we played much more direct with Mc there.

Good to get a win, but at that level we won't win another game this season. Newcastle were dire, we should have been out of sight at halftime but we bombed too many chances. It is a step in the right direction but we still have a long way to go to be on par with everyone else. Some good individual performances, but we undo our good work with too many braindead mistakes that first graders should not be making.

How good was it to get a win. Newcastle were poor and we stuffed up heaps of chances but there is some talent in our side.

Brooks & Tui were great in the halves. Suli in the first half was huge. I don't think we've ever had a centre like this kid. If he improves on his game he could be a real good player.

Twal looked great. It was a great effort in his first game.

Kev was really really good. He has a mistake or two in him every game and at fullback it's heaps more obvious but he killed them out there. He was linking better than Tedesco has been. Less sideways running.

Overall the forwards were good. Captain lard ass played his best game of the season. Ava was decent. Eisenhuth was good. Sue was great. I think Sue can only play limited minutes and he works better just smashing it up. ET & Edwards didn't do much but they also didn't make dumb mistakes like Lovett has been. Liddle & McIlwrick were really good. Liddle is getting a lot more game time and I think he hogged it a couple of times when he should've passed it but he looks like he has a lot to his game.

I don't think we had a dud performer.

Brooks long kicking game is a bit concerning. He doesn't often find grass. He ran very well today thought and was much improved.

I will admit Edwards defense was pretty good was a good body guard for Brooks. Much better then Lovett anyway. Also in attack Suli good good early ball today. You know your bad when Edwards looks like a rep player compared to Lovett.

In saying that we should have finishes them earlier 2 bombed tries in first half could of been 30-0 by the break. Take the win and the bye.

Would love to see same team play week after week. Ball movement was good today and off loads. Couldn't give a shit about Turd.

Was Liddles best game today.

Brooks was good. Yes Newy were shit, but our forwards dominated them, which showed a glimpse of what Brooks can do behind a dominant pack. Naiquama was one of our best, and improving every game. As was Suli, with good, early ball he showed what he can do. Killed the first half. Woods was solid, a few nice offloads, not MOM though, that was shit. Actually, I thought our whole backline were outstanding. They demonstrated that a great pack is key to success. Something that we really lack, and have lacked for a long, long time.

Just happy to get a win of any kind. Newcastle are horrible though - the Wests '99 comparisons are apt.

First of all Newcastle were particularly terrible so whilst I think we were pretty good it's hard to know what to take from it.

There were a few subtle differences in our attack today. I noticed brooks and Lolohea played like a traditional half/five eighth which worked really well and both had their best game of the year.

After the first 20mins Sue went off and ET then played the rest of the game on the right edge. This then allowed us to have a solid middle rotation which 3 of woods, Ava, sue, twal and eisenhuth were in there, giving a more physical presence. In turn that put Edwards and ET on the edge next to the halves which plugged the usual holes we see there.

Suli and Marsters were both great. Suli getting early ball showed what he can do and Marsters brings a bit of variation to the right attack. Having a short kicking game is a massive bow to a secondrow/centres string.

Looking forward to the game against Manly in a fortnight. We should have Lawrence and assuming Tedesco doesn't invent another injury him too. That will show us if we really have improved.
