Thats not why.

Firstly did you and the others replying to my post actually watch the trial ?
Yes Manly were under strength , do you think im f**king stupid? , if we played the same as we did against the raiders we would have been lucky to have put on 18 points against the Eagles NOT 50.
Canberra as good as they are didnt stop us doing the things we did in the trial which included almost 30 players which a lot werent even 1st grade players ..
Such as Standing deeper, using the backline , fighting for offloads ,quick play the ball, supporting the ball carrier to name a few.
So over to you and others to explain how the f**k Canberra totally changed the players from doing that... the opposition can 100% defend and nullify that style of play BUT they cant make us not do it or try it ... we attempted ZERO of what worked against Manly and it has nothing to do with the quality of the opposition.
No I didn’t watch the trial and I couldn’t care less about what happened in it. It’s glorified Oztag usually with players coming and going, all of them trying new things, coaches throwing all playbooks at the games...against Manly - who were thoroughly undermanned, it worked.

You seem perplexed that the trial form vanished so quick. I would argue that our performance against the Raiders is the norm and the trial is the outlier. I base this on watching this club produce a decades worth of f**ked in the head football sides who lose their way as soon as the opposition shifts a gear. We had a reasonable first 40 against Canberra. The pigs were on top and the defence was holding. As soon as the Raiders applied the torch after our ill discipline, the team reverted to panic and poor choices.

There is no genuine football star in the side, no leader and the coach ain’t that good either just quietly. They may come good in a couple of months but last Sunday, what I saw was the same shit I’ve been watching since 2012. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Yep. We stuffed ourselves.

We got to wait and see. It's only one game into the season.

Stryker .... firstly i think it is important to have knowledge of the trial match to at least see what the players are capable of , the skill and ability shown gave me confidence for 2021 that i truly wasnt ever expecting. So as far as being perplexed that form vanished is very much the case but as i said unless you watched the game it would be very difficult for you to comprehend how the team can display and perform completely different within the space of 1 game.
As for the combination of your other comments i generally would have to agree , we have been and are such a heartbreaking club in so many aspects ..whether that be on field performances or player recruitment and selections that never ever seems to change . I think Madge is just like you and I , he can see what we all see and is wholeheartedly trying to remedy it , i think personnel wise he isnt far off , coaching, team selection and game plans i have my doubts like you as to his ability...
Im just same as you , but trying to be a bit more positive :sunglasses:

To be fair to Madge, we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, with players and other shit.

Optimism is why Madge is still here despite blunder after blunder and no evidence he knows what’s he’s doing . Optimism is why Brooks is still here and playing. Optimism is why we are out of the 8 and getting worse. Optimism is why Taylor, the worst offender, was able to rape and pillage the team for so long until there was nothing left...Optimism is overrated

Who you going to get with the credentials of Maguire who’ll actually want to coach the Tigers. You can bag him all day long but realistically, he’s about the best we’re gonna get. The only other option would be to take a punt on something unconventional like the Walkers, but I’m with the club on this one, stability in the coaching role is on thing we haven’t had since Sheens. I still think Maguires a year away from having a top 8 side. Realistically a mid comp finish would be a fair result this year.

This is the game to get bearings on where we are isn’t it. I’m prepared for any outcome.
Might have to get Ian Thorpe on match payments the way it’s been raining over here. Bet if we knocked on his door he’d be wearing a sombrero

Jet out, Talau in with MCK on the bench

Not worried about him being out, can’t utilize his speed in these conditions

Just hope they don’t bring Mbye in at center
