Quite a few on here knocking Hoy and wanting someone else to play f/b, major worry seems to be his ability to over play the situation.
Surely the coaching staff see this as a problem and will be giving him instructions to just play it simple, make the runs, make the tackles and let Clifford and Clune run the show. I’m hoping he has a good mistake free game and if, big IF, we lose he is not the reason.
If he is first choice to replace Ponga due to injury then he should be playing f/b in reserves not 5/8, easy shift spine about 1 Hoy, 6 Pythian and 7 Baker

Oh I'm not concerned about him to "over play " his hand, I'm concerned about him playing any hand at all.

Catching a ball should be a minimum for a pro footy player.

I'm bewildered how Hoy is working at the club. Nepotism perhaps ? Terrible player, one of the worst in recent memory.

Exactly right re playing 6 in reserves and then cover for Ponga. What is that about? I personally think he is better suited to five-eighth (at Cup level), and that he clearly doesn’t adapt well, especially as a fullback. Kid’s proving to be a lost cause, but club isn’t doing him any favours.

Not saying he deserved a deal, either.

not concerned about him over or under playing his hand but he is absolute terrible handling kicks, seems to just have sub par anticipation and positional play and then s**** himself when he realises hes out of position

So, I'm 2/2 on NRL's pick 'em and our game is the next one. God help me. I had us 7 - 12 before Ponga got ruled out. NFI what to pick now, of all the games I feel like this is the one that could literally be anything. We have an equal chance of turning up and winning 13+ than we do losing 13+.

Mmm, yes. My biggest concern with Hoy is actually that he'll get anywhere near the ball in any capacity whatsoever. Hopeless last year, hopeless in the trials. Just an all-round sub-NRL standard football player up to this point. I even hate the thought of hoping he'll prove me wrong and have a good game... because I don't want to feel the disappointment of that hope fading as the game wears on tomorrow.

I can only assume if we win tomorrow, it will be in spite of his inclusion, not due to it.

Win by 13 and cover Brisbane by 20/ Canterbury by 25, and we lead the comp.

All of those options give me special feelings, but “Go Knights”!

Looks like the Bailey Hodgson injury is really going to hurt us. Assuming that he is now the 2nd choice fullback at the club it’s really frustrating seeing Hoy straight back into first grade in round 2 when we probably all hoped he would be on the outer sooner rather than later.

The best I can hope for is that Hoy at least manages to catch the ball today rather than his normal 2-3 unforced drops.

I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen a player look so out of his depth in first grade. Hoy gets man handled every time he runs the ball and isn’t quick or elusive enough to actually make it through a gap whenever there is one, then to top it all off he has the worst hands for a fullback I’ve ever seen and his play making is below average. Surely this is last chance saloon for him now as an NRL player. If he can’t turn himself into at least a reliable back up option this year then his first grade career should be over and I don’t want to see him at the club next year.
