I don’t think we were garbage, we are certainly a work in progress, most teams are? but remember the knights ran over the top of us twice last year and are expected to be top 8 team this year, we should improve on this as the year progresses imo.

Plus we have some goal kickers for a change.

Still very hopeful about making the 8.

We were probably a 3-4 try better team but we compounded ourselves with errors and poor discipline....yet again

the fact we even let Newcastle back into the game was disgusting. But anyways, a wins a win

Good that we finally got the win. Brooks and AD played well, and Laurie looks like he is just getting better.

Kepaoa had a very poor game. He has a lot to fix before he can consider himself a first grader. Talau and Luciano were pretty ordinary as well. Basically that whole left edge needs to get their shit sorted and fast.

If BJ was playing you can guarantee we would have lost that game.

All in all, we didn't really win that game, it was more that we allowed the Knights to lose it. There is a lot to learn from that game but hopefully it gives the boys some confidence that we can turn things around

To be fair I have to acknowledge Brooks did good..He had no obvious flaws ..His kicking and passing game was great ..what can u say ..it was due but what next week ...it may be a matter of hopefully getting through to having a better halfback without Brooks losing too many games for us ..but then if he can string a few like that together? ...

Like the everyone else I didn’t think we were very good, however we were definetly the better team and should never have been in a position to lose the game.

Is worth mentioning that we didn’t get a single penalty all game and no 6 agains in the second half.

Early on we just take the win no matter how we get it. We have a horror first 6 weeks, playing 5 of the top 7 from last year, and if we can come out of it 2-4 it’s a big tick from me. We’re now halfway there.

We need to remember 3 of our spine are new as are the 2 centers, we’re going to be clunky in attack and lacking combinations in defence.

The knights are a team we’ll likely be competing with 7th/8th for so it’s a big win. Just like the sharks did last year we just have to beat the teams below us to sneak in.

Forwards were good (again) and the kicking game was much improved on the first two rounds. High completion and kick for field position is our best chance of wins this season as we lack a lot of creativity in attack.

It must be said that Newcastle were horrible, and the scoreline certainly flattered them, but I'll take any win these days. Their four tries were really the only four opportunities they created and all were from bad 1v1 reads/misses. I daresay if Ponga played he would have been able to create more opportunities for them off the back of Saifiti and Frizells carries.

I feel for Kepoa, he has talent but is still very raw. It would have been shocking for his confidence if we ended up losing that
Raw is such a compliment for a player with no talent..

I don’t care as much as u about his confidence at all although surely a loss couldn’t dampen his confidence further than it is now

I just pray Madge doesn’t have the same sentiments as u

we can’t have a winger consistently making those mistakes And I hope he never shows his face again

That performance was as bad if not worse than Brooks last week.

He’s worse than Jennings

And please don’t say there’s no better options

Raw means there’s some talent..I’d have 10 other descriptions and none of them would slightly resemble talent

I’m confused

that was an aggressive response for something I basically agree with you on. Lol

Are you ok?

Yeah, well we played poorly and still won.
It's something to build on.
In 20 years time, Stefano will be tellin' anyone who'll listen, how he caught a ball on the 300m line and ran all the way to score a try !!

He was desperate for a release from the eels last year when we headhunted him, found our off season really tough so I’d say it was a big deal for him to come through and score.

Probably the best day of his footy career and will give him a lot of confidence.

At the presser, Madge said the boys were pretty happy. Under massive pressure and they found a way.

That’s not aggressive that’s explanatory..

You say Kepa has talent and u seem to care about how he feels despite today esp, and on more than one occasion previously being an embarrassment to our club...and with no evidence that u agree with me, Im thinking you may think he will come right with time..So I’m just clarifying things for you.

I think Brooks is enough of an example of where - being sympathetic, waiting for that talent to emerge and assuming he will come right because of his raw talent - will get us and should be discouraged..

Bradman Best would of been a handful. Their backs were terrible. I thought defensively for periods we defended pretty well. We were in control for a long period and completion rate was good. Brooks was good in attack but again our attack is still flat. The 2 six agains then losing it on tackle one which they scored twice from actually made it close. It was an improvement. I thought the Knights forwards Klemmer, Saiafiti and Frizell 3 origin forwards played well but seem to not give offloads. If we lost parra would smash us. Now we won be closer at least I reckon.

AJ was terrible, he has no game awareness ,he got put in a gap with 5 on 2 and had no idea how to take advantage of the play unfolding.Still to label him worse than the Slug Jennings is a bit harsh, all that lazy f##ker did was take cap space.
both are experts at the stroll over try’s...I haven't seen Kepa beat a man to get a try or for that matter beat a man ..Jennings iether
Granted Kepa moves his feet like he knows what a step is but to no avail
At least Jennings can catch a ball on his chest
Plus we endured Jennings for what 2 years so he may seem unbearable..Kepaoa mistakes seem more shocking over a much shorter period

Tweaking ? Like passes in front of the player rather than behind, options like when Kepaoa running down a wing with chance to take a tackle, pass inside, kick for your team mates or just kick it out, like getting early ball to Roberts so he can use his speed.

It was ok, it was an improvement, it’s only the 1st half. See you in 40.
The 2nd half was an improvement as well, they fought back after going behind and that is a positive,
As many mentioned Kepaoa, well what surprised me at the end was his defense, I saw some tackles and thought who was that, so to me, it was a case of, I have let the team down with my handling, I have to do the right thing with my defense, so good on him, for that. (Hoffman or Cini would be better).

Gee those 6 again turnovers are iffy (for both teams), you see one and think, that happened in the last set regardless of the team and there was no handover.
