I’d say Aussie Jim is here for his leadership qualities rather than his playing ability - that’s my view anyway

he is still a first grade standard prop but if you’re expecting him to bust tackles and make 200+ meters per game you’ll probably be disappointed

Tiger 05, you are right about Tamou.
I don't know what we should have expected, but he doesn't stand out.
Is it a case of our recall from Penrith with him being a better player in the middle of a better team ?
Dunno. But like I said, he is just blending in at the moment.
Our forwards went well yesterday, and shut down a lot of offloads from the knights. Klemmer especially. That bloke would normally offload at least 3 out of 4 carries. We limited him to 1 that I remember. We wrapped up their arms in tackles time after time, and it frustrated them. Connor Watson was a livewire for them, but our forwards more than held their own.
Can't wait till we see Blore, the Simpinkses and maybe even Tuilagi.
Tamou is pretty average from a playing point of view. Three games to date 24 hit ups for 245m (9,8,7 hit ups) and 104 tackles (49,27,28), no offloads.

Thinking about Tamou got me looking at our starting props performances against our opposition for the first three games, doesn’t take into account minutes played

v Raiders
Tamou 7 hit ups 78m 49 tackles
Offenhangue 16-128m 2 offloads 26tackles

Papaali 10hit ups 89m 1 offload 28 tackles
Lui 5-45m 16 tackles

Roosters
Tamou 8-62m 27tackled
Off: 6-53m 1offload 32 tackles

Taukeiaho- 17-134m 1o/l 22 tackles
Collins - 15-136m 1line break, 32 tackles

Newcastle-
Tamou 9-86m 28 tackles
Musgrove 11-96m 12 tackles

klemmer 20-193m 1 o/l 41 tackles
Saifiti 16-167m 3 o/l 30 tackles

total
Opp: 83 hitups 764m 169 tackles
Tigers: 57 hitups 502m 174 tackles

Roosters and Knights way above ours

Hi Everyone.First time poster here. I have been reading with interest over the last 12 months all the comments made by all which some I agree with and others I disagree.
For this team to finally escape the doldrums these are the priority actions:
  • Maguire MUST be retained for a minimum 4 year period.
  • An extensive and far reaching development plan for junior players with a particular focus on the Macarthur area. Our nursery is there just like Penriths is.
  • Any current players identified as not being on the same page as Maguire to be purged from the club.
  • I have been a supported for Brooks during his career. I firmly believe he now has the halves partner in AD that he has desperately needed. Although AD is not as brilliant like Benji he is a more controlled player. Watch their combination blossom. If by the end of the season Brooks fails again then he will finally have to go.
  • Immediately begin discussions to extend DL contract. This kid ooze's class.

Disagree on Maguire, needs to show he has more coaching ability than his bash and barge success at souths. Has he adapted to the new touch football rules?

Agree with the juniors, Gus set that up for The Riff over many years but Ivan took all the glory.

Laurie- Slightly concerning at our best player has a whole 5 games experience under his belt but he obviously needs to be a priority.

Welcome to the forum (at least joining the discussion side). If Rhyno gives you a hard time just remember he is either high on meth, coming down from a meth binge, or itching for some more meth.

Agree with all your points, although not completely sold on Brooks. I've been a very long term supporter but until I see 7 consecutive games this year to which he has an "okay game" at minimum I'm in the trade him in for a more consistent halfback camp

The thing is we have a bunch of middle forwards who are contributing a lot on the park. It's a concern especially because we made him captain.

It's crap right. Then you add in Tuki Simpkins and Amore playing reserves plus Blore to come back in.

Twal and Stef have been huge for us though. Plus Mikaele has been good and Joe O was decent off the bench. Musgrove was also good and should improve.

There is no doubt at this point that Aloiai better than both Tamou and Joe O. The thing is other players have stepped up.

I like Maguire. I think he is building a better squad than what we had with Cleary. The thing with Cleary though is that he got that team over performing at times. Currently I think our team is under performing.

I still figure we stick with him because I think it'll come together soon.

As for Brooksy. I like him. He did everything right on the weekend - kicks, passes and running game. His defense needs to improve a bit which is interesting because his defense has been a high point.

The thing is I think the club has to be on the lookout for another half. Brooksy has been too inconsistent. it's the more the couple of clangers he regularly comes up with.

Douiehi though is a guy that I think we can really build around. He has a lot of ability plus he has the winner attitude.

He’s stop gap at best. I have no idea what he was like playing at Penrith but their fans have nothing but nice things to say about him....but then again, that’s easy to do when you win 17 straight

It's a couple of poor picks for the captaincy role isn't it. I reckon we should have Douiehi as our captain.

Give Tamau some time...We fought back from a “we are definitely going to lose now” positition to end up winning the game ..Can Tamau take some credit for keeping the players strong? Maybe

Maguire MUST be retained for a minimum 4 year period.
Why? What has he shown us so far that deserves such a reward? If we miss the 8 this year again he has to go.

People have been asking for this for 2 decades. If the club agreed, they would have done it by now.
Any current players identified as not being on the same page as Maguire to be purged from the club.
What page is that exactly? I agree he is the boss but if the dressing room is lost, he will be sacked. Simple as that.

Luke’s partners have not been the problem, he just isn’t a halfback. It’s simple, use him as a running 5/8 and the problems in his game won’t be as important. Whilst he played well on Sunday in patches, I’m not sold on AD. See how he goes against quality opposition this week. Last time he played top quality opposition he was dreadful.

This I do agree with however we should not go overboard - he still has his training wheels on.

I understand your frustrations. But please except this current squad is what we got.
Maguire is a very good coach. Experienced and hardnosed. This is what the club needs.
Review the halves partners Brooks has had over the last 5 years. One of them is Moses. The same bloke a lot of people put sht on.
Our spine is starting to develop.
