Its a long season.

Four games in and we are 50% with a new coach, new defensive structure and effectively only one new player.

Our forwards are playing well and out bench rocks it out.

I think we still have 2 cap spots this year and there are something like 12 players off contract.

Every coach hates golden point. Bennet has been very outspoken about his hate for it.

Patience.

Yep it’s early season & yes we have a fabulous coach & the forwards & bench r excellent. However our backline is ordinary & it’s riddled with slugs who r poor defenders & vulnerable under the high ball who will b at the top of the tip sheets of opposition coaches to target.

Also it’s of some consequence but we just have this knack to not b able to ice a game we have been the better team in.

Although the outcome was tormenting last nite I can’t wait for next thur nite hoping for the anticipated signs of improvement by virtue of Madge’s influence. No reason we can’t win the middle & hence upset the broncos in there backyard.

If it was the Bulldogs of last week playing Penrith on Friday night they would have won by 30 plus. Penrith were horrible, we should have pasted them. We are playing a slightly better version of Taylorball. We stand flatin attack and flat in defence and try win the arm wrestle without a game breaker or goal kicker...Going to be a long long season

There has to be a investigation with this, someone has to be held accountable, here are the changes I think needs to happen next week, brooks dropped mbye at 7, Thompson at fullback, nofo returned on the wing, masters dropped with gamble to take his spot in the centres and kicking duties, Matterson in 13 mck in 11 Taylor back to the bench, mekele in esienhoths bench spot.

Next round our team should look like this if they want to beat the broncos
1- Tompson
2- Nofo
3- Jennings
4- Gamble
5- Fonua
6- Reynolds
7- Mbye
8- Matt’s
9- Farah
10-Twal
11-MCK
12-Garner
13-Matterson
Bench
14-Packer
15-Aloiai
16-Mekele
17-ET
Defence should hold and look like more points in this 17

Ok we didn’t kick a goal and there is a lot of merit that has been said as to why we lost, but if Jennings had faith in Brooks and didn’t move in to allow his opposite to get on the out side of him that Riff try may not of happened.

I think it was much imprived from last week. Our middle held, they got 1 try in the last minute on the wing. The goal kicking hurt us, but masters isnt a goal kicker, and it is clearly affecting his confidence in other aspects of his game. Give the young bloke a break from it, there has to be someone else in the squad who can kick.

The reynolds knockers have been pretty bloody quiet, had a corker of a game

I've been a Reynolds knocker and I'm pretty sure I already mentioned how good he was. He keeps his spot.

There were positive signs against the riff but geez there were a tonne of low moments as well. I know everyone is pissed and I am as well but our squad isn't shithouse. Our forwards look good although I think Taylor's time may be coming up. Taylor can play but he needs to make basically no mistakes to help us out. He needs to be a safe player.

Our backs need some class. Our spine needs to improve big time.

Overall though we can compete with most teams if the coach can somehow get us playing positive footy. We just chocked. We weren't trying to win the game. There were a couple of sets where we just did nothing at all plus we dropped way way too much ball.

Did Reynolds get motm? only watched the highlights but it looked like he was involved in everything and his short kicking game was superb

Needs to stay injury free

Yes he did. Pity he couldn't kick FG's though:D
Edit: Sorry, I am of sure about motm, but I am sure he got the WT players player award.
I believe last year he got a couple of player awards for the few games he played as well (the boy can play). If he stays injury free, I think he will be invaluable.

Yeah that's why I never understood the hate for grub.

Yeah he had an injury riddled season last year but I'm pretty sure out of the 5 games he played 3 of them he was our players player.

Him staying on the park this year will be key to us making the semis or not

My 2 pence:
Brooks, Marsters and Jennings were diabolical. I'd be flicking Marsters and Jennings to Canterbury Cup next week and bringing in Gamble and Mummy.
Thompson made a couple of fatal errors at the end but, overall, was great.
Mbye, to me, is a lot like Thompson: a solid, intelligent footballer but not a game-breaker. He just doesn't seem to have the blistering pace or tackle-busting ability of a Slater, Turbo, Hayne or Teddy which can change a game.
Fonua wasn't bending the line on his set starts as much as he usually does but I think that was down to possibly Ivan having his team prepared for him and gang-tackling him every time.
Our forwards were great, particularly Garlic Mayo - I'm loving his evolution as an impact tight forward this year.
Reynolds - fantastic.
Farah - meh.
I totally agree on Masters.. the guy needs a reality check... he is playing like a 2nd rower in the centers, I couldnt care less about his post contact metres ... we need him to start hitting and breaking clean through the line again and producing something. Currently Chris Heinington would offer as much as him ..... AND wouldnt miss a goal from in front :(

I was at the game and decided to watch it again at home just to get the TV perspective.

I was filthy walking out of the place but after watching it again I think we did enough on the field to have won that. Brooks and Marsters shitting themselves with the boot was what cost us.

But why ..Friday night and even in the first 2 weeks when the games were tight why didnt we snap the 1 point when it was an easy option without the pressure. THEN go back looking for the try when we were 7 up... also the goal kicker is shit and has always been shit.... It is a big concern to me the coach hasnt addressed this ... both situations were avoidable with some very simple directives prior or during the game from Madge

The coach should have been across these issues. There is a lot to like about Madge but we shouldn't just let him off the hook.

Still as said above it's only 2 games in and we are a new team. We can turn this around.

No matter even if Marsters practices 24 hours a day 7 days a week he is NOT a goalkicker.
Hes had enough chances....I have still yet to see him kick a goal from the sideline in 2 years.
Very annoying in that us supporters can see it and Cleary and Maguire couldnt/cant.
Bring up The Gambler , play him in the centres and drop the overweight Jennings.
Picking a 17 is not that hard, and getting a decent goalkicker is easier.

Tiger05.
Madge will show his hand after 2019..
This squad is not of his choice although hes signed one flop already in Jennings.
There are 6-7 players off contract this year i can see either retiring (Benji/Farah) or copping the Bunnings Broom.
Gee i hope hes got some signings in mind for 2020...We cant continue with this 17 every week, making the same mistakes week after week.
