Yeah I get he promoted the ball but they should be able to see he ends up over the line anyway.

Doesn't matter in the scheme of things, we're not winning anyway I guess.

Common sense needs to apply though, surely the ball was going to end up on the line even without him promoting the ball.

I don't think you could say he definitely gets there without promoting it. Not enough certainty to over-rule the onfield ref.
