Powergen Fastest Man in Rugby League
Powergen, title sponsor of the Challenge Cup and official Energy to the RFL teamed up with Sport Relief to find the fastest man in English rugby league.
32 players from across the Super League and National Leagues One and Two competed head to head to answer the long standing question...
Who is the quickest of them all?
Congratulations go to St. Helens’ winger Daren Albert who beat the rest of the field to win the prestigious and much acclaimed title of The Fastest man in Rugby League. He dominated his heat and then cruised home to win the Grand Final 100-metre sprint in 11.365 seconds.
For all rugby league fans who attended the sporting spectacle, we hope you had fun getting behind the players and cheering them on!
The World of Rugby is throwing its considerable weight behind Sport Relief '04, and has already got off to a flying start.
At the Official RFU World Cup Send-Off dinner in September 2003, a staggering £85,000 was raised from a raffle & live auction held on the night.
World Cup winner Matt Dawson , who recently visited a Sport Relief funded project said:
"Sport has played a huge part in my life, but it also has the potential to change the lives of many people here in the UK and around the world.
"Sport Relief takes this potential and turns it into a reality. That's why so many people in the Rugby World in general and sport in particular are right behind it."
If you follow the link, you will see Albert did the Sprint in his St Helens strip and carried a football for the entire 100 metres.
