He'd have to be getting on now though. I really don't understand it considering the young players we have coming through. :? Still, at least it's not someone in the Laloa Milford class. :)

From the Daily Telegraph

Seers Soon To Be A Shark

Former NSW fullback Matt Seers is expected to sign with Cronulla within 48hrs.

Seers, who played for Norths, Wests Tigers and clubs in England is poised to agree a one year term.

With David Peachey at fullback, the Sharks will be looking at Seers as a centre or perhaps a winger.

"We're hoping to sign Matt Seers, yes" Cronulla general manager steve Rogers said last night. "The club is a bit light-on in the outside backs and Matt is a quality player."

I'm waiting for the "we had no money left for Deano crowd to start".
Its the first thing I thought of when I heard this.
Saleh, Seers. Are there any more?

But why are we getting these guys in? I thought we had no money for Deano?

:p

I think Matt Seers will be pretty valuable but it makes me wonder what we are doing signing 2 second rate outside backs instead of one established goal kicker. Mick DeVere was on the market in the off season last year and he wasn't asking for that much. He is a quality outside back, I'd take him in front of Seers and Saleh in a heartbeat. Great success rate with boot and a quality defender. If anyone can tell me what we paid or will be paying for the other 2, it might make it easier to understand, but at this stage, I am baffled.

Yep. I heard this from another source. IMO Seers will add thrust to our backline. And it's good to have another `Matt' in the backline once again too.

Money wasn't the issue with Deano.

I wouldn't put him on the wing or too close to the side-lines, he may roll up a note and have go......He had hankering for white lines didn't he???

Foz, I think you raise an excellant point mate. I have been told by those close to Treister that the salary cap was the main issue of his non-return to the club. I have also been told by an ex-member of this forum that the "way" he left the club basically rubber stamped any chance he had of a return to the club.

Clearly with theses additional signings, its sounds as though that our ex-member was correct.

Seers was born in 74 and i'm pretty sure he has been playing for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
