Well, it is a dead issue anyway. I would have taken him on the wing for a garaunteed 6-10 points a game though.

That's assuming we scored between three and five tries a game (or milked a penalty in range). With Caine on the wing, our tryscoring ability just got that much worse. I'd rather no goalkicker than Joel Caine.

Just on the salary cap issue:

The total payments to the top 25 players has to come under $3.25M. So if Seers is equal to or less than the 25th player, he doesn't count. I believe that Deano wanted $UK100 to stay in UK - so he was probably asking a fair bit to come back to Oz and so would affect the salary cap. And a quality goal-kicker would a well.

As for Seers's position, I would think that we want him as a fill-in player ie several injuries in the back-line and he can fill in. I don't see him as a permanent in first-grade, though.

BTW - does anyone know what's happened to Deano?

FYI-Caine's kicking game was abysmal when he was low on confidence - this includes missing sitters that he would otherwise just slot over.....no big loss to you guys anyhow

FFS.
Sign a goalkicker, sign a goalkicker. Why don't we sign a goalkicker.

If buying a goalkicker was our number one priority, and the player in question had no other pre-requisite skills apart from being able to kick goals (as I assume by Caine's name being thrown up) surely we could have saved a motza and just lured Eion Crossan out of retirement?

Yeah, that'd be the answer to our woes

Caine is absolutely rubbish. He makes the spitter look like Gary Belcher.

If we had of signed him, i would have paid my entrance fee on game days just so i could rubbish the useless hack from the sideline. A farcical 1st grader

my $0.02

Tasesa Levea was signed up to the Blues mid way through last year. He wouldn't fit in our team anyway.

Bird has to be the kicker. He does the kick offs so let him do the goals too

Joel Caine was just an example. Would you take Darryl Halligan? He was a deadset shocker as a winger but how many games did he win?

I just hope they give Merritt a go, he kicked 9/9 in PL against us last year from all over the place. He didn't kick in the trials so that makes me think they want him to establish himself before they burden him with the extra responsibility. I say let him have the job now!

I agree McSharkie

Empower him with the responsibility and hope that he responds favourably to the burden.

That is, of course, unless it is Merritt himself who has made this decision for him to not take up the kicking duties.

Firstly: im noddys biggest fan, so im not putting shite on him just for the fun of it

BUT

I reckon noddy kicking, is more of an ego thing than anything else. I get the impression he thinks that he thinks he has to do everything, otherwise we're no chance. Which is true in a few aspects ....BUT?!?!

I reckon this ego has been fueled from playing under opes for the last couple of years. Even when noddy may have had a shite game, uncie opes would probably have been smoking his pole, telling him how much better he was than all the other "nuffs"..

i reckon in time nod will become a great team player again, but at the moment i get the impression that he is in his final stages of kemo, shortly about to enter remission

Get well soon noddy. xxoo

P.S. .......merrit should be kicking, or atleast being heavily developed as a kicker

I wouldn't put him on the wing or too close to the side-lines, he may roll up a note and have go......He had hankering for white lines didn't he???

You know what I'd do if I was S. Rogers. I'd throw Jason Stevens $400k if he retires at Daniel Abraham. He is a very good second rower and a very good goal kicker. Joel Caine would have been a good buy too, he was off contract at the end of last year. Tasesa Levea, now playing Union and kicking for the Blues. The list is plenty long enough, we didn't try hard enough.

Daniel Abraham, not a bad idea.

Joel Caine and Tasesa Lavea NO NO NO NO!

I'm not happy about signing Seers. The bloke never impressed me. He made a big tackle on Mullins woop-de-bloody-doo. His best footy which was a bit above average is well behind him.

I will say he is better than Miflord and Anderson, but that's not saying much.

Seers is way too inconsistent. He can have great days, but they are rare. Caine is one of the best kick returners in the game, but thats it. He is horrible watch under the high ball, and gets caught out of position too easily. Lavea-a one hit wonder, defensively poor, no idea really in attack when you consider he played in the halves.

Seers is better than Milford and Saleh, thats all he is.
