There's a lot of people who pay for season tickets. They have already paid for their seats so not turning up is pointless. The club has got our money.

You should start a petition at the ground. Get those who have paid their hard earned to see disappointing games have their voices heard. If I was in management it would be those Fans that I would be listening too.

Yep already shelled out the $300 for a season ticket so I'll still go to every game as I'll support the blokes on the field no matter the managment/coach.

Still I am in the same boat as everyone else being very frustrated at his selection choices. I think he will be gone soon enough anyways. I'm predicting if we haven't won at least 3 of our first 6 he'll be gone.

I think we need to sit back and take stock of the situation in an objective fashion.

For starters if Matt Elliot is sacked at some point during season 2009 it is unlikely the incoming coach whomever that may be is going to be a saviour and turn our fortunes around. There are not too many supercoaches out with the magic wand likely to do the trick.

I just think he should be given the entire season, and if, we finish outside the eight and perform poorly overall then he would probably be the first to admit he was not the person for the job.

Sacking him early on or even half way thru this season will probably serve little purpose and do little for the incumbent whomever that may be.

Are you Eric Roosendale or John DeLabosca or waht. Stop sitting on the fence and call and spade and spade. I think Elliott has had 2 years to do something with the team. If he does nothing by round 6-10 of this year he should be punted. We have a massive talented junior base to draw on and probably a fair bit of room to move under the salary cap. If it was the Corporate world he would get the punt with nothing.

I did say not everyone agrees with my approach, and that's perfectly fine. We're all individuals, free to make our own choices.

Mob, I'm not jumping up and down, just responding with my thoughts, which I had kept to my self until now. I support the

team wholeheartedly, but that does not extend to the coach or the management who defends him. I don't need to give him

another 25 weeks to judge his performance, I've made it based on the last 53.

The problem with waiting, is what are we going to be left with? We've lost most of our juniors from last year. We kept the

cream of that crop, but already Elliot's handling of the side has put Graham off. He started last season exactly the same,

only it was Sammut. He is constantly putting second rate purchases in front of our juniors. Why did we pay massive overs to

keep Smith and let Theohauras go. Do you think he stood up and said we need to keep Hlad at all costs? Ask Moors about his

treatment. Do you think Tia Kilifi will be happy to play one trial match each season?

Management didn't say Elliot was being judged on his performance, they said they couldn't afford to let him go. I'm saying

we can't afford to keep him.

Tommax25, I wasn't calling for a boycott. But I do believe if the place was empty for a few weeks, and accompanied by an

avalanche of e-mails explaining why, it would be difficult to ignore.

At the very least, MX's online petition is worth a try. The Raider's fans know our pain, I'm sure they would lend support.

the best protest go to games hold signs up sack elliott.Gets noticed by board and tv or pay tv .Will not take long for his butt to be heading down the m4

It's a bit of a shame, really. I don't mind the Panthers at all. Matt Elliott is a champion of a bloke, but just isn't quite up to First Grade coaching standard.
And you'll lose talent out of frustration because players are constantly picked out of position, or can't crack FG because of whack team selections.

I prefer to call it loyalty.

I'm hardly sitting on the fence. I believe we should keep him till the years end and pass judgements then. We signed him on a contract for three years and we should honour that. I don't like players seeking to get out of their contracts whether for legitimate reasons or petulant reasons and based on the same principles I don't believe we should be sacking Elliot either.

Id just like to cogratulate Matt Elliott on the signing of his new contract to stay at Penrith for another 3 years.

Whether you or anyone else likes it or not Matt Elliot has integrity. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He has not enjoyed a great start to his coaching career with the panthers but he has been honest and forthright at all times. He hasn't always selected the team the fans wanted but what coach does. The coach surely knows best and is surely in the best position to make those judgements. Despite what most fans believe I have always had faith in Matt Elliot and still do. I hope things work out for him but he is a genuine person and despite what most think a pretty decent coach.

I hope we fire him. The sooner the better. I don't care how well we're doing... after his efforts in the past couple of seasons, i feel like any results we achieve would have been much better with another coach.

Matt Elliott seems like a top bloke. But he's a terrible coach.

That sums up the sentiments of all Raiders fans during his stay with us.

No matter how well we were doing, you got the impression we'd have been doing 100 times better with another coach.

To his credit he has got the side defending really well.

Maybe we need to bring in a former halfback/five eigth as a specialist coach to address our attack and last tackle options.

We are also terrible around the ruck. We let opposition sides make too much ground up the middle behind the play the ball area, and we rarely make any ground ourselves in this area.

If we can improve in the halves and around the ruck, we will be top 8 cotenders this year for sure.

I also agree with those sentiments.

Sure, it's a good start to the season, but lets wait until around Round 15 and see where we are before we start cracking open the champers and exclaim in wonderment that Elliott is the right coach for Penrith after all.

Last nights game could have swung against us, we were lucky that Lewis and Waterhorse could return when they did.........

I am not apologising yet.

I'm really encouraged by our start to the season. It seems Elliott has got the fundamentals working. Guys are cutting out the stupid penalties, working for each other and rolling up their sleeves. If you look at what Wayne Bennett has done at the Dragons, it's very similar (except he has done it in a few months with arguably less talent). There's plenty there for our attack to build on and if our forwards keep providing them that space it should come.

I just think a fair few other options could have got us to this point a lot quicker and may not have cost us some of our favourite players.

Anyway, I hope the guy can come through for us in the next 2 months otherwise I'll be very happy to see his back.

I don't agree with his style of coaching, but i have to say, he keeps a stiff upper lip in the face of adversity and always has positive things to say to the media.

As I have previosly mentioned, his coaching style just doesn't click with the pacific islanders. He has got our defence going really well, but he needs to adapt his coaching to accomodate for allowing the FOBS to use their natural ability and play outside the square tha Elliott has stuck them in.

I think we can make the 8 this year. Graham needs to be there, and I am looking forward to the debut of Luke Walsh and Shane Blackett.
