Isn't it telling though. Last year we couldn't beat the struggling sides, but we always turned up against the big sides, and knocked a lot of them off, including one big big win against Manly towards the end of the season.
This year we haven't had that higher gear, and it probably is due to the halves issue.
I don't think this has been a wasted year, and perhaps we should have more patience with Elliott's 'grand plan'. Things have obviously improved despite the lack of halves over the past year. My main issue with Elliott is his relationship and handling of the players. Perhaps given time his gameplans would work at Penrith (personally I don't think they're suited to our talents) as they have at Melbourne, but he just doesn't bother working on relationships or developing raw players in that sense.
In that regard I think we need a John Lang type, a people person, who can work with all our youngsters, and have a tactical mastermind like Neil Henry or Flanagan running the plays. I think Lang is exactly the mold of coach we require, he just ran out of ideas for us and we need a fresh start.
