Who cares, the media is doing it's job.
Don't pull your mental gymnastics sh*t here.
Your club signed a scumbag criminal and deserves every bit of criticism it gets, as does the NRL.
If my club signed a guy of this calibre I'd think we deserved all the crap we got too.
Don't want backlash dont sign a violent criminal.
I note in today's paper the Broncos sponsor NRMA Insurance urging the club to make arrangements for Lodge to pay the damages ordered against him in the US. While this really should have been agreed upon before he put pen to paper (and been a part of the written contract) it is hard not to be amused by the irony of an insurance company urging someone else to pay a claim so they'll (NRMA) look good.
Lodge is on a minimum contract of 85K or so but reportedly turned down 5 times that with Newcastle???? If that is in fact true then there are quite a few questions that should be pointed at both the Broncos and the NRL that need immediate responses
Yes I agree with you.Fair enough, but it should be okay to call the media on bullshit hypocrisy as well when none of the other players with criminal charges including domestic violence have been subjected to the same media campaign.

Further more, if Matt Lodge has a manager he should sack him immediately for letting him sign a deal worth a pie and coke when he could have made big dollars and gone a long way to repaying some of the ridiculous $$$ hanging over his head from the civil case.
I mean, why the flick would you forgo hundreds of thousands of dollars per annum when in his situation??? Does not make any sense whatsoever.
Wow I didn't know that, that's a little weird considering he's from down south and has family in Sydney doesn't he?Lodge is on a minimum contract of 85K or so but reportedly turned down 5 times that with Newcastle???? I completely agree with you re Barnaby. And to be honest, as a PR exercise it has been completely mishandled by the broncos and the NRL, but I fear that no matter what they did, there would have been a similar outcome.Yes I agree with you.
The media was always going to hound Lodge because his crimes involved that of a mother shielding her child in a bathroom.
The minute a child is involved all bets are off.
Should have expected it and weighed up the risks, the media doesn't care about playing good.
Some of those football players ought to see what politicians go through.
Lodge is getting hounded but have you seen what Barnaby Joyce copped? (All deserved of course but still).
Apparently (if Gould is to be believed) he approached Gould about coming back to Penrith, and Gould told him he owed loyalty to Brisbane and Bennett for supporting him. Hence a one year deal, the general feeling around the fan base is that he will do one year and be gone back to Sydney.Wow I didn't know that, that's a little weird considering he's from down south and has family in Sydney doesn't he?
It sort of makes sense from his perspective as well. If he stays out of trouble and has a good season and is able to showcase his wares, it is likely he will attract more clubs and more money. Coming back after that amount of time out of the NRL and with only 12 games in the NRL, and doubts about his mental state, he would not attract the same number or quantum of offers.Wow I didn't know that, that's a little weird considering he's from down south and has family in Sydney doesn't he?
Not a problem, James can smoke meth, Matt can beat peeps up, we are the broncos...

No Problemo
this happened three years agoAnd Toddy was crowing that there was no off-season drama this year. Sorry Todd, you're wrong - and this one has more legs than most.
I think that they thought if he was playing well (which he is) that all would be forgiven but that isn't the case.I completely agree with you re Barnaby. Actually I didn't follow them as closely last year because of the Zeke drama there was also Greg Hardy, again the team deserved all of what it copped. No longer a Dallas Cowboys fan, then?

Anything else?
