Don't know what you're talking about. My response was in reference to a post from Flame Thrower.

But now that you mention it, "trying to keep things positive" is accepting of mediocrity.

Objective View

I'm personally not accepting of mediocrity as you harp on about. Once again, your negativity demonstrates you have nil experience in team situations, been in that environment or have any idea on man management? Or if you had, even worse. You in charge of anything would seriously frighten me to seek alternatives.
Do you honestly think today's team will be told they were good?
Do you think I am happy with that performance?......from coaching staff to #17 ?
Don't worry, they will be told a few home truths and hopefully, there will be some personnel changes. Lighten up dude, I'm not the enemy !

McGregor is safe as houses. He's got a 3 year deal, and a board member who publicly declared him a supercoach. He's got the cushiest job in the world. We are screwed

Buckle up folks we are in for a rough ride with the current structure. The way I see it is the only chance of improving enough to challenge for top 4 there would have to be a raft of change starting from the board,Doust,Mary & squad. This I can't see happening for a while so we'll just have to get used to where we are now.Looking ahead IMO this season may be a success compared to what's ahead, just saying.:?

Future looks bad, we may have become what souths used to be......cellar dwellers.

Until the results come, I have no optimism- rash decision to re-sign the coach, this board has not learnt from the past 3 years, rookie coach = big chance of mediocrity.

I hope Mc Gregor can pull something out of the hat, but like I said until results come against good opposition there is no cause for optimism at all.

Don't blame me Stalker. I didn't make, or anoint his appointment. You can blame me or accuse me of my weakness of supporting the Dragons, or the Mighty Saints at all times and trying to keep it positive but don't ever accuse me of being acceptable of mediocrity.
Got it ?
Objective View made no reference to you. You may need to read back because you're looking a little paranoid there.

Sorry is anyone gets annoyed, but this statement is true.
A RASH decision by a DESPERATE board with no concept of due diligence.
I dont give a rats if today game was irrelevant to the 8.
17 blokes out in the Red V, looking like mad Monday was already there.
There were a few exceptions whom showed a little urgency, but as a team we
a sham.
Shameful, gutless and unworthy of donning this jersey.

I don't even think it was a rash decision by the board,McGregor was always the man,the local boy done good. The board is lazy and have no ambition and planning. As much as I love them with our club,Duges and Benji were panic signings, done because our recruitment was pathetic and were signed in a panic to rejuvenate an under performing squad.
Yesterdays performance only confirms that Mary is a joke of a choice as our coach,he couldn't get a team with talented players up for games where we had everything to play for.
The Knights and Titans yesterday also had nothing to play for.

It must be the something wrong with the way the dragons have done the old boys club because Manly are great at it (player becoming coaches - Fulton,Hasler,Toovey,Arthurson,Ritchie,Stanton)

There is no doubt that everyone is hurting, but some of the stuff people try to project onto others, or take issue with, is mind numbing.

Having a positive or hopeful outlook doesn't render someone 'accepting of mediocrity'. This is a meaningless throw away slur intended to demean someone who has a differing opinion. Ffs I doubt anyone here is accepting of the mediocre, perhaps some simply don't see things in the same dark light as others. They may simply believe there is some hope that the situation can be improved. There are those who tend to view the world a little less grimly than others. The worst such people could be accused of is optimistic naivety. If we all shared the same dark demeanour we'd probably have opted for mass suicide by about now.

Re the articles some take issue with, half of the things posted here are just fluff pieces that the rags come up with as fill. The Illawarra Mercury has to put something on the back page. If they ignored us people would be screaming about that.

As for the club's releases, seriously, what do people expect to read? Players saying how f**ked Mary is? An article on how shit the playing group is? An investigative piece on how Doust and the Board have lost the plot? Honestly, if it rankles so much best not to read it.

Like most, I'm gutted by our last two performances in particular. We were still an outside chance, but more than that, we had a chance to establish our credentials for next year. These performances, combined with a lack of any obvious positive recruitment, leaves me feeling very uncertain about our prospects for next year. This squad just isn't cutting it against the better rosters. Massive replenishment is needed in some critical areas.

I feel a little hopeless about our prospects at present. I'm not usually so despondent, but our don't see where our improvement is going to come from. I honestly can't see us breaking out of a bottom four position next year given our current situation. I don't like feeling this way.

I have been critical of the articles this year, they just add insult to injury.

Its not great policy to talk the team up on Tuesday as if they are about to get on with fixing all the issues by Friday ,then come out in their skirts and play on Sunday, just makes them look like idiots.

The club should be working on a LESS IS MORE policy in this area while the side plays like a bunch of reserve graders.

Are you referring to the newspaper articles, or the club's releases, or both?
I agree it's a bad look, but no one can control what the papers print. They will produce an article with or without quotes as they see fit.
As for the club dross, I think it's something we just have to live with.

We'd all prefer they did their talking on the field, but it's a media reliant world, and game for that matter.

Well said and there is plenty of emotion
in where we are at .
Frustrating thing for me is I feel we have some talent for a coach to work with and with smart recruiting could raise the level.
But we still see similar weaknesses, selection blunders we have been used to for a couple of years and like you feel we will have a similar frustrating time under this coach.

Dragons coach McGregor reviews all options for 2015

By Paul Haigh

Sept. 10, 2014, 6 a.m.

Speculation: Dragons winger Brett Morris scores a try in the 40-10 loss to Newcastle at Hunter Sports Stadium. The Bulldogs are chasing the prolific try scorer. Picture: Johathan Carroll

ST George Illawarra's NRL season is over and the hard work is about to start preparing for next year.
Coach Paul McGregor, now in charge for the next three years, has the task of shaping a team with a good smattering of youth and experience into a finals team.
A 40-10 walloping against Newcastle at Hunter Sports Stadium on Sunday was a flat end to the season.
The Dragons finished 11th on 26 points.
McGregor said there were no excuses for his side's performance.
"You want to go out there with a thought process that you are going to give your best effort because you haven't got next week to play for," McGregor said.
"The story was told after the first 10 minutes. It was a long 80 minutes for me."
McGregor said there is work to be done in the off-season at the club.
He has started a review of the football department and wants to implement changes but he won't be drawn on them at this stage.
One matter McGregor wants resolved is the long-term retention of winger Brett Morris.
The Test winger is under contract until the end of 2015 but the Bulldogs are keen to sign him for 2016 and beyond.
McGregor wants to keep him a Dragon for life.
And the league drum keeps beating. Veteran prop Willie Mason, who had a blinder against the Dragons on Sunday, has been linked with them in 2015. Newcastle have told Mason his services are not required in 2015.
Newcastle 40 d St George Illawarra Dragons 10 (Brett Morris, Kyle Stanley tries; Gareth Widdop one goal); crowd: 20,424.
Should the Dragons sign prop Willie Mason for 2015?

BEST PLAYER
The Dragons showed promise in the second half of the season and the feeling in the club is that 2015 they have the mettle to make the finals. Gareth Widdop, has arguably been the club’s best player over the premiership rounds, with Brett Morris not far behind him.
Coach Paul McGregor will conduct a review of this season, then map out off-season strategies. The Dragons have missed the finals for three consecutive seasons, 2012-14.
OFF-CONTRACT
The Dragons have nine players off contract: Josh Ailaomai, Jack Bird, Yaw Kiti Glymin, Nathan Green, Bronson Harrison, Willie Mataka, Will Matthews, Shane Pumipi and Kyle Stanley.
Halfback Michael Witt has retired and prop Matt Groat has signed with British Super League club Salford Devils.
HOLDEN CUP

The Dragons have reached the finals of the under-20s competition. Dragons play Newcastle at Allianz Stadium at 1pm on Saturday.
Dean Young and Ben Hornby, who won a premiership together with the Dragons in 2010, and have impressed with their coaching of the Holden Cup team.
