I must admit I found it odd.

I just assumed all capital cities TV productions do that sort of thing now.

To try to make it seem more "local".

I think ch9 commentary are tying to compete (mimic) with the likes of Flintoff, Richards, Punter, Junior, Gilly across at ch10. The "commentary" over there is genuinely funny and makes watching t20 more enjoyable. I actualy look forward to listening to them every night

Ch9 commentators are just clueless, particularly Brayshaw, Warne and Slater. They really need to lessen the on air time from these try hards and bring in the likes of Bumble , Holding, Vaughn, MHussey etc...

Flintoff last night showed that you can still have a good time in the commentary box without being an A-grade jerk, or spruik non-cricket related propaganda like "Melbourne is the best city in Australia" and then trying to cast your own biased votes whilst encouraging others to vote as well. Richards is a legend. Everytime I hear his voice, I have an image of Michael Holding saying "Cool MAN!" Punter, Junior and Gilly make a very good trio. The Ch10 team could do without the Victorians: Fleming, and those other two AFL journos Maher and Howard. If it was just those 5 - Flintoff, Richards, Punter, Junior and Gilly - with Mel McLaughlin hosting, that'd be close to one of the best commentary teams going around in cricket today.

As I said in another post, if Sky Sports UK aren't covering an English tour during our summer, Ch9 should make a serious bid to poach David Lloyd over here, as well as recruit Michael Vaughan, irrespective of whether England are here for the Ashes or not. Ch9 brought David Gower out here during the 1992/93 tri-series with the Windies and Pakistan. Both Lloyd and Vaughan were great additions last summer during the Ashes, and that'd be a far better trade off to have Lloyd and Vaughan in exchange for Brayshaw/Warne/Slater. I'd take that any day of the week

Did Sky cover it last time? Even 9 just picks up the local telecast doesn't it?
