I have to say, Bay, for someone who claims to always debate the issues, you seem very unwilling to in this case.

R69 has raised some very legitimate points.

there are many posts made in this thread that say a lot about your character as well which makes discussion or debating any issue a signal for you to commence WWIII ... discuss them with T_R, dubby, skip and others that agree without reservation to the points you have raised and wont 'duck and weave' the issues

well congratu-f**king-lations bay, you can find a few posts where you praise the boys in the head office for a job well done... Must have been tough to track down those posts, i notice both are about 8 months old... couldnt find us something more recent?

I guess management havnt had much to be congratulated on eh?
Aside from:

- the monaghan signing
- the david howell release
- Laurie Daley returning to the fold as a specialist coach for our halves.
- the scores of U/20 talent we've signed, of which ive outlined in this thread, to no response, including the very VERY highly regarded Joel Thompson... and also Travis Wadell, a hooker who, presumably will slot straight into the hole left by James Woolford, the very issue you're complaining about
- massive membership increase, in fact early on NRL.com registered more hits for our membership page then ALL OTHER CLUBS COMBINED
- insiders with the club say we have more corporate sponsors on board now then ever in recent history
- insiders with the club also say there are some MASSIVE plans for next season, my mail is you will not want to miss our first home game in rd 3, they are planing some special event and from all reports are going to promote the sh*t out of it.
- the handling of Todd Carney, which was well supported by the fans, sponsors and even the head honcho of the NRL - David Gallop.
- identified TC as their priority re-signing and things look as positive as they could aside from his name on the dotted line.

I mean, you're right bay, credit where its due, and at present the club deserves NO KUDOS!
im one of the first to criticise when its warranted, but tbh since Henry's appointment there hasnt been much to whinge about... finally we're a club moving forward both on and off the pitch.

Good summary 69. No matter what happens on the field you've got to give our management some kudos for what they've tried off it.

Now we just need TC to re-sign and get rid of some more dead wood and we're laughing.

who's commencing WWIII here bay?
All im asking is that you refute one, not all of them i know you cant do that, but one, ANY ONE point ive made. But you cant, you've been tried, and tested and found wanting. Thanks for coming bay, if you could leave this thread for people who actually want to debate the issues that'd be great, clearly you're out of you're depth

Since Bay lacks the fortitude to even attempt to take me on regarding the points ive made, perhaps his partner in crime - Matt can do it...

So Matty,
Clearly you're not a massive fan of the boys in the front office, but dont you think they deserve a little credit for some of their moves and decisions? Ive qouted them to refresh you're memory

Kudos matt, i may disagree but at least you've got the minerals to have a crack. Well in mate... now down to the brass tax

The halves and hooker i agree with whole heartedly, our halves are good but are far to inconsistant, i believe the club, via the appointment of Laurie Daley, is doing all within its power to help these blokes take it too the next level, they've got the talent, with henry and daley, they've now got the coaching, from heres it on them... Sink or Swim

As for the hooker, again i agree, its an area we NEED to improve on, Withers was hopeless most of last year. But he is a durable bastard and he does have it in him, remember that was his FIRST year as a fulltime hooker, i think he'll be all the better for last year and im thinking we MIGHT see a big year from him. But at present i dont think either Linc or Hinchcliffe is the answer. Both are lacking big parts of a hooker's complete game.

Im not so sold on your Monnas would always come back, Freddie was very keen to keep him, he struggled in his first 2 seasons by last year he really kicked on, it would have been easy for him to say "i'll give the bright lights one more crack", he didnt and imo thats mainly due to the club identifying him as a talent, and getting him early. The club idenified the centre position as an area thats needs strengthening, and they got their man.

Also worth noting, Whatuira was a bee's dick away from signing with us also, if not for massive ESL offers. If he'd have stayed in the NRL theres a very good chance it would have been with us. 2 years ago we wouldnt have even bothered to have a crack at Fatz.

As for the insiders, i guess we'll wait and see, but KW says there is some good things in the works for 2008 season and i can scaresly recall an instance of him leading us astray on a scoop.

Im really looking forward to this year, ive been saying for awhile now that i expect us to be a premiership contender by 09... that gives Henry 12 more months to mould his team and gel the combinations. I think we'll see a vastly improved raiders outfit this year

and around we go in circles ,you say potato, i say potarto any ways lets hope santa has dropped a bag of hooker goodies off at withers and the whole bag at little micky Ds place...

but as bay says until they are across the stripe , let the bagging continue..

you back at work yet or still enjoying those 4 weeks annual leave that the union plugged hard for..lol

69 it seems that a couple of edges have been smoothed , but we are avoiding the toughies.

if melbournes scouts and the ache think wooly is good enough for them and we dont come up with the chromies(lol at bay) then thats enough to get me pizzy........

ps im liking this JT SSHHHH.

My 2 cents is that Withers should be primed for a decent year. He cops a fair bagging about his missed tackles, but his goal line defence is quite solid (which IMO is a huge weakness for our team as a whole). I can only remember him dropping off 1 tackle that directly led to a try last season, but I'm happy to be corrected if this isn't the case. Most of his misses seem to come from putting pressure on the opposition halves or from taking the heat out of big hitups - and if that's the gameplan he can hardly be caned for it.

IMO his dummy half forward passes were a direct result of a) playing full time hooker for the first time in years and b) adjusting to a very flat ad-line gameplan from Henry. With a full off-season and a very stable lineup I'd be surprised if we see the same errors from Linc.

I do have some reservations about his decision making though. Some of the times he ran from dummy half were just stupid. I'm talking 50 metres out on the last tackle with nothing doing. If he can put a bit more thought into his work and get one or two stupid errors out of his game each week then he'll go OK.

At the end of the day, IMO if we can get healthy seasons out of Carney, Monas, Graham, Tongue, Zillman, TLL, Logan and Costigan I'm confident we EASILY compete with at least 14 other teams in this comp.

The Cowboys proved to me that a pretty ordinary team with 2 or 3 decent players, which copped it's fair share of dead-set floggings, was able to come 3rd. We could have beaten them twice last season so IMO a top 4 spot is certainly not out of the question. A top 8 spot should be our absolute minimum goal.

No worries dude ... they havent ... and Happy New Year.

What R69 doesnt seem to understand is that discussion doesnt havent to turn into a slanging match of personal abuse ... keep to the subject matter and I am more than willing to debate any issue with any person on this forum (am thinking you've missed the alteractions which jed has cleaned up).

And despite R69's accusations I have commented on a number of the points he raised previously in other threads.

All other points have either not passed the finish line (as pointed out by matt), are based on "inside" information ("the butcher" as referred to by R69 on any similar statements that I make) which are difficult to make a judement on without some comparative data, or are "feats" that every other CEO would have on a priority list of things to do before the start of the U20's competetion next year (hardly rocket science that requires a congratulary response).

When Rnd 3 arrives I will make my first call ... I hope this event will be worth the wait.

care to comment Bay?

you claim to have done so in other threads, so surely commenting again will no issue... but of course you hide behind you're excuse of some sort of slanging match... which is funny as since the clean up i havnt strayed on the subject matter, a subject matter you are unwilling to debate me one... why? Fear of looking foolish? Come on bay, as my grandfather used to say to me - "Dont let fear hold you back"... but i suspect more dodging and weaving will be all thats comes of Bay 56

agree with most of your points matt but that one pretty well sums it up ... always best to compare your performance with those that have out-performed you in the past, seek to advance to their level and then some again.
