Yep, we had a lapse but its something we can easily clean up. What I notice is the markers - we often only have 1 marker at the play the ball with the other guy still getting back on side or still lying on the ground. This is where it is hurting us. We aren't getting the markers in place before the play the ball and hence the play the ball is quick and we are back pedalling. I'm not sure the defence is the total problem, it's partially the play the ball.

Irrespective, yes we had some calls go our way and I think some went the other way too. I'm still not convinced that first try wasn't held up.

I think Witt is the half - we had better structure out there tonight without the seemingly haphazard attack. He had a hand in some good movements as well as adding support to Widdop.

Losing the 2 right centres hurt too - as you saw they attacked that side constantly.

Overall it was an improvement and I think if we come out like that every weekend we will have a fighting chance against any team.

Youre right much better organised this week ,good point about the markers ,i think they are concerntrating too much on the wrestle/hold down and too slow hence we quite often have a player out of play at the ruck(still on the ground or clearing ) and also late getting back in the line for the next tackle so technically offside and our line speed is poor.This is obviously a tactic to slow down play and if you dont do it they play the ball quicker and get us anyway.

We were steamrolled up the middle, could not contain their go forward. Every Melbourne set ended in our 20.

Story of our season tbh, were scoring points but its against the run of play.. were doing it a lot though its not a coincidence, but its still not going to be an approach we can take into big games.. Storm were pretty error-ridden tonight and it kept us in the game.

But end of the day we need to stop the rot thru the middle.. and unfortunately were attempting to do it by lieing on tackles, Rein is a bandit for it..

I wish people would realize that in this day and age this is just how Rugby League is. The Dragons march down the field pretty easily at times too. The 7th tackle crap rule doesn't help the situation. The NRL is becoming more and more about entertainment to try and stop the bleeding as far as crowds. Well it isn't helping. We will likely never see a premiership winning side again like the Dragons of 2010 that did it with defense.

One big fault in Reins game is his passing from dummy half.......can somone please coach him on throwing the ball to his team mates chest and Not above their heads......there was times when on the Fifth tackle our players had to rush their kicks because they had to pull the ball down first.

This is definitely an issue. It's easier to get down the other end in these situations and I did notice we did it a couple of times too.

I still think ruck is a problem - as was mentioned, we either fail and the play the ball is quick so we are still back pedalling, or we succeed but only have 1 marker and they make easy meters in the middle as a result. Or we get penalised trying.

We need to get that play the ball right. Storm still do that wrestling thing where they twist the player around onto their back nearly every tackle. That's how they were slowing it. You notice when they weren't doing that is when we were making some meters.
