Wow, some people on this forum seriously need to pull out the big stick that appears to be permantly wedged up their @ss!

I think Waldron did an ok job with Melbourne considering he had to run a NRL team in such a one eyed sporting environment such as Melbourne. The Rebels will struggle and the only way they can get publicity is to use Rugby League. For f#ck sake, Yawnion have been doing this for a long time!

4 straight grand finals along with 2 premierships is a pretty impressive CV as far as I am concerned.

NRL boss David Gallop tells Melbourne Storm CEO Brian Waldron to finish his job immediately

* By Phil Rothfield and Rebecca Wilson

NRL boss David Gallop has advised Waldron to quit his job as Melbourne Storm CEO immediately.

"I like Brian - he's a good bloke - but he should leave straightaway, " Gallop said.

"He's now working for our opposition and when that happens at most companies, you clear your desk and move on."

Waldron originally told a media conference he would stick around for a month after handing in his resignation last Tuesday.

"I'll be in Sydney on Tuesday to see News (Limited) executives and I'll be guided by their thoughts," Waldron told us.

"I can go now or I can stay for another few weeks. It doesn't make a lot of difference to me."

Does anyone know if he will be present at the conference at the Sheraton on the Park? Surely he would no longer be welcome.

Doubt very much he'll be attending. The NRL wouldn't want him there and I don't blame them. He's already acquired some pretty confidential information on the set up of the new commission that he could pass onto Rugby Union.

lol - well im sure Brian will lose money hand over fist there as well. It must be great to be a CEO and to know that losing money is expected whilst you get every advantage to be successful.

The Storm aren't losing money, how many times? They are operating within their income streams.

I'd take operating within my income AND winning all those titles over breaking even and winning nothing! Crowds have grown in difficult circumsatnces, Storm have some great corporate partners, they are getting a new ground and they have a strong profile in Australia. They will have teams at SG Ball, NSW cup, Under 20's and NRL this season. Victoria won the inter state comp last season. Not a bad job from the CEO if you ask me!

With the clubs calling for the new board members of the commision to be non association to any club, could Brian being looking to work with the Rebels for a few yrs before looking for a place on the board?

Aren't all clubs doing that?

Waldron leaves Melbourne with an impressive CV, and has certainly worked well for them.

However, this is the downside of the modern corporate CEO - no loyalty. I know there is a lot of noise about retired footy players being boofheads, but the ones who DO make good administrators also bring passion and commitment to the game. They are no likely to swap codes for the $. I couldn't imagine Mortimer or Searle following suit.
