Until Waldron entices them to go with him that is.

Yeah because Inglis, Slater and Smith etc would turn their backs on team mates, the coach and the club in general for Waldron. I'm not saying that it's not possible that these blokes wouldn't defect in the future but it'd be soley for the pay packet and would have f**k all to do with Waldron.

he turned his back on his state, the above would be no issue at all.

Meh

CEO's are corperates anyway, it's expected that they move around. As the article states, he was at AFL before he joined the Storm, and now he's off to another sport and another challenge.

I thought he was a bit of a merkin what with his comments about the judiciary last over Smith's suspension in 08, but him leaving for yawnion doesnt phase me and shouldnt be a problem for the game at all.

Tend to agree really...it frustrated me that he nothing about the game but you could argue that he did not need to as he was just running a business.

I hope Storm shop around and get a good solid replacement who knows a little about the game and has some nous to attract corporate dollars in an educated manner.

lol at those lauding Waldron.

He's been operating on an enormous budget (compared to other clubs) and yet still hasn't even managed to get games in Melbourne on FTA at a reasonable time.

Surely exposure for the Storm in Melbourne would be his prime objective?

You've failed Waldron.

f**k off, you won't be missed.

That's not his fault. That's the NRL's and Channel Nine's fault. He's tried. That's the most disappointing part of this - he's at least been vocal in trying to get game's on TV.

Wally Wauldron - your mission if you choose to accept it is to get Inglis, Slater and Cronky all playing for the Melbourne yawnion team before your tenure is over.

The more I think about it the more i reckon we were better for Brian then he was for us. He was perfect for what we needed at the time i.e. a big mouth who knows melbourne. But lets be honest his previous track record in AFL wasnt that great, he just lucked into the job when we got some GREAT players coming through the ranks with a GREAT coach which made his job about 2 million times easier.

As for the missng $6 million whole, Ive said planty of times before its only coz we spend so much on player recovery etc. If we keep expenditure comparable with the likes of the Tigers, Raiders or Newcastle we break even ore make a small profit.

However that is the benefit of having a sugar-daddy :p.

And how many CEO's in the NRL are running clubs that don't make millions of $'s losses a year? Only difference is Storm's losses are being covered by News ltd (for very good business reasons) as opposed to poor saps losing their dole cheques on the pokies or some sugar daddy that has decided that rather than a new Ferrari they'll spend some of their investment returns on a hobby club.

lol at people who think it is Waldron's fault NRL isn't on FTA outside of NSW and Q'land. Don't have to look very far to see who the real culprit is, uhhhmmmmmmmmmm.....

The people here bagging the Storm's P&L statement have NFI

The Broncos expenditure is known as they are a listed company, the have a four mil salary cap and spend around twenty mil on 'football operations'

What can be a good guess is the Storm spend the same amount, if not more.

Spending $14mil breaks even

Why don't they do this?

Well if you had the worlds largest media company underwriting your operations with a blank cheque you be spending overs as well

The Storm are fine, while I admire Waldron he can be replaced

What is concerning is he has had a central role is discussions regarding the proposed RL commission, he willhave a lot of inside strategic information

John de Bresac Ribot was the right bloke to start the club.
Waldron came at the right time and recruited wisely to create the dynasty.
Now its time for another CEO who can establish Melbourne as an independant club.

f**k it, i'll be bold enough to suggest that Reebs had a hand in the dynasty in his capacity as a consultant.
 Don't even know the name of the Satanic puppet who started your club. It's John Ribot de Braesac you knob

Ribot was the right person for only one thing - being a target for a firing squad. I'll never forget Melbourne under him promoting Rodney "Roids" Howe as some sort of hero figure when he was doing his 2 years. I guess Waldron brought in the grappling. How is the next bloke gunna help Melboring cheat?

None. Prove otherwise.

Never miss a chance to bash Sydney. People might start to think you are normal instead of a complete f*cktard!

Thank you Kurt for a very informed and logical post.
What I underlined is also a concern for me. Not only is he going to take that information with him to Union, he could also lure some of Storm's sponsors, staff and players which could be a bit of a worry for the club.

seya Wally. won't be missed

You're kidding right?

Massive blow for the storm and rugby league in general. Although not raised on the game, there needs to be more CEO's of Wally's calibre and less ex-players holding these positions. Highly rated in sports circles...
