Why do people try compare or even put the Storm into consideration at all.
They were well over the salary cap, their team doesn't count until they get it under.
Sick of hearing storm fans saying "We're still the best", "We would have won if we were in it".

I'll be happy with that so long as Jimmy Ainscough and Craig Smith aren't on opposing wings.

Come on, it's not like they had a battle that ran all game. It only became an issue when AIncough took Smith's head off as he was scoring that try :D

But seriously, talk about Melbourne/Dragons wing battles how about Matt Duffie Vs Brett Morris and Justin O'Neill Vs Jason Nightingale. Add Soward Vs Widdop at five-eighth to those positional battles as well! Another chapter in the grand old rivalry will be written in 2011 and Saints will be the benchmark to test Storm next year. Haven't seen the full draw yet but when do we play each other?

Only once in 2011, in Melbourne Round 24.

Why so late I wonder? That Storm vs Saints game on Good Friday was meant to be a permanent fixture but saw ANZAC Day/Easter on the fixture so I guess they fall on the same weekend or close to it?

Fine. Then I insist on Archer and Hayne as the central refs and Hollywood Harrigan in the box!

There is one massive bonus about our 2011 draw, we don't have to play the reigning premiers.

Storm vs Dragons...That'd easily be the most boring game to ever grace this exciting sport.
It'd probably be more exciting to skip the whole ordeal and hear about the 0-1 scoreline on the news next day.

Wait, Storm are cheats yet St George add a 400k player with only 50k to spend! ??? The same year St George are fined for breaching the cap!?????

Mate, there's no point trying to educate ignorant people. They will simply refuse to listen because they're comfortable in their ignorance.

Glad we didn't win the title in 2008. The NRL would have had to take it off us for our technical salary cap breach that year.

The breach this year was a technical one (upgrades for when a player plays SOO, number of first grade games by a lower tier player due to injury eg. Merrin & Stanley etc).

The big difference is that we do it legally.

We backend Gasniers deal, so we pay overs for him in each subsequent year, as a result we will have to let players go. Every club does it, however it is only ever an issue with other fans/players (Lockyer) & media when St.George Illawarra do it.

We don't have 2nd contracts for some players, we don't have 3rd contracts for some players.

The NRL saw the entire contract and have given it the ok, there is no need to get all upset because we are a club that does things by the book, without cheating and has success.

I think if Dragons did win it in 2008, or any of the other teams that were hit with fines, I think the premiership would have stayed with the club regardless, mostly because the size of the salary cap breach was minor and also because there was no intentional cheating....after all the NRL did say it was only technicalities.

Exactly, I think the people that were blowing up about the Gasnier thing don't understand how contracts can be back-loaded and front-loaded.
It was also very good to see Gaz back with the Red V :)
