I think the Dragons only played MEL once this year.

Yes

That game was melbourne best game of the year and one of the dragons poorer

they scored 2 trys to 1

and kicked two boring penalty goals in the first half to lead 4-0

Man I love all these threads. People still trying to take anything away from a Dragons premiership.

Just accept the fact that the club you put so much effort into hating, the Mighty Dragons, are the best team in the country. Number 1. Premiers. Champions.

The fact you are still in denial just makes it sweeter for us.

PS. For the Sharkies fans. You guys may as well celebrate, the trophy is the closest it's ever going to get to Woolooware.

Which Storm team is that Haynetrain? The one on books #1 or books #2?

Would it be the same team that defeated Parramatta in the 2009 grand final, while cheating?

Would, coulda, shoulda but did'na. Just like Hayne shoulda played good all year but was incapable of doing so. Some geniuses like yourself said that was ok though because it was a waste of his time playing good all year. Still, you said the Saints couldn't win the comp, so your opinion is about as good as Hayne's defensive attributes....Pathetic!

Oh please Melbourne would have got their *ss kicked.
Melbourne's reign of terror (see bore) is over, they're so 2006.

Thank Christ. Had no idea why we were chasing him.

Besides, I think we only offered him 5 billion cases.

If there were no injuries, my guess wouldve been the Storm. Obviously no one can guess these things perfectly, but the Storm would be my objective prediction. Experience would have helped, and I'd say the Storm won many games during their 'golden' (forgive the pun) era before they even ran on the field. And of course there are 1.3 million reasons for Melbourne to go back to back. But thankfully we were caught, and thankfully this scenario didn't have a chance to happen - the last thing the game needed was another season destroyed. Well done to the Dragons on a remarkable 2010 - a premiership well deserved. I urge all the fans to soak up the exhilaration as much as they can, as the envy and hate will really start soon! ...but in saying that, watch out for a legal Storm next year! :D

Would Melbourne have beaten them had they both qualified for the grand final?

I say yes. Inglis, Slater, Cronk, Smith, Finch, Blair would have dismantled their defence.

In saying that, congratulations to the drag queens for a successful season.

Prior to April 22 I was saying Storm vs Dragons grand final. I'm calling a titanic replay of 1999 in the 2011 decider. You heard it first.

I think you guys are underestimating the loss of costigan, smith and saffy.

Other teams are stronger next year, Dragons are substantially weaker ( in the forwards) without them.

If Weyman stays hurt and has to miss a chunk of the season...no backline alive will get you back up there.

I could not believe how soft Weyman was. A slight tap to his noggin had rendered him unconscious. Neurosurgeons have said that the more knocks you get to head, the easier it becomes to get concussed next time. I expect Weyman to have a limited shelf life.

Every couple of years this comes up. We lose a lot of forwards and tbh it concerns me as well, sometimes.

But I look at the juniors / rookies coming through, and recall the club's policy of signing the discards from other clubs (eg Weyman and Costigan), and how we seem build a good pack. For example, Saffy was a complete unknown before he came to Saints. I expect Merrin to step up next year.

Having said that, a post premiership hangover is on the cards. 31 years and a lot of pressure released. Hope the coach and senior players can overcome it.

Their aggression will be missed but we get our No 2 prop back Hunt, Young should drop back to lock, Merrin will be a star in a few seasons and Green can easily fit on to the bench. Our forwards will still be amongst the best. On this thread Storm are f**ken cheats!

If you want hypotheticals you should at least make it fair, hypothetically the Storms illegal team vs the Dragons with shillington, leeroy lars etc.

Storm would get smashed :)

I completely agree with your post.

That's why it was important for us to win it this year, next year we lose a lot of mongrel and depth.
Not just the 3 blokes you mentioned, we've also lost Priddis, Thorby, Fai Fai Loa, Beau Henry, Michael lett. While they aren't outstanding players they are quality and decent back up.

Hunt will be back for us, Marketo will be ready for 1st grade next year, Greenfield had an injury free year for us and will be ready to go in 1st grade, and Green will be better again after almost a full season in 1st grade. Besides Hunt, the other blokes aren't at the same level as Saffy, Smith & Costigan but will do a job for us.

Merrin & Prior will hopefully keep improving next year which could help fill the void also.
