The club probably wouldn't be interested unless it had a certain high number of season ticketholders in that bay or were guarenteed the bay would sell out each and every week. Which it wouldn't.

No they were simply not interested due to a lack of interest.

Yeah probably because you hadn't provided enough guarenteed interest, ie. proof of a mimimum certain amount of people willing to sign on as season ticketholders if this went ahead. Which was my point. You would need a fair whack of supporters willing to pay upfront if you wanted the club to take it seriously. We should have a supporter bay in Bay 62 or wherever, but it should be general admission and it would have to be combined with the B&G Army supporters to make the numbers worthwhile. If they promoted such an idea themselves and made it GA I reckon you could get a massive group going, I'd be in if that's the case but the club don't seem to listen.

It really is that simple but the club doesn't seem that interested tbh.

What you are suggesting is exactly what I tried to do. I didn't care what they called it. It was an item in the suggestions presented to our board and CEO by both forums and PESC. When I spoke with Roy Spagnolo, Joe Saad, Paul Osborne and Sid Kelly (to name a few) about this I actually asked that they simply have an Upgraded BGA Squad Membership in the Eastern Terrace using those exact words. They all said it was a great idea and would look into it. They did nothing that I am aware of so now I am intent on making a point that this is NOT endorsed by the club. The 'Official' BGA squad is in The Northern Terrace and not in Bay 62 as we would have hoped so The Swarm is there instead. The fans have had to do all the promotion for this ourselves and the vast majority of those promoting this want it called The Swarm. I don't care what people want to call it or themselves for that matter because in the end we are all the same anyway and that is Parramatta Eels Supporters in a Parramatta Supporters Bay. This bay is open to all supporters who wish to join in and has been promoted on both forums and through the Blue and Gold Army Facebook page.

That's a bit odd that they all said it's a great idea and did nothing about it.

Good on you but Tony for doing it. Double thumbs up.

A bit odd and very disappointing but I am excited by the promise of what we can achieve by pure people power. The more successful this becomes, the bigger the message we will be sending out. Maybe then in 2012 the club will embrace the idea some have been suggesting to them for years.

Makes you wonder if the only reason they got the Swarm going was to pump out a few memberships in Grand Final week last year.

Pretty disappointing and also, if there were no members in 2010 in that bay, why did the BGA squad have to sit behind the posts at all last season?

It's only my opinion but I'm guessing that it's easier to market the worst seats by leaving the B&G Sqad with no other option.

if I recall there was an issue last year where a few members were trying to get a similar thing going for away games and were advised not to use the B&G army name, so using another name is probably best.

Congratulations TB for the initiative, it still seems to me that these type of things require a few motivated fans to do everything with no help from the club and if past experiences are anything to go by the club actually makes it more difficult.

The lanyard is all good, but how about a plastic holder or at least a hole on the ticket so you can use the lanyard?

The membership card will have a hole so you can simply attach it to the lanyard without the need for an environmentaly unfriendly plastic holder.

i just double checked, no BGA vouchers.

I just checked and instead of a one off voucher they have opted for an increase of the members discount from 10 to 15% which can be used all year, except on members only sales or items.

I note that this year you can renew in person at the Football office. Might save a few headaches people might get with the online renewals

Yep, we went into the BGA Headquarters and renewed our 3 ST and purchased another 2 for the ruggies

All done and dusted. No issue what so ever. They should have done this last year. Would have been easier for us.

Cheers
