Immolation have been around since the early 90s- always put out consistently great albums and have really unique sound, their guitarists are masters at harnessing really odd, creepy dissonant chords and tones. Check out Close to a Wirld Below for probably their best work.

Pretty solid list there, that Vektor album is wild. I'd throw Denouncement Pyre into the mix, and by the sound of the preview track the new Ulcerate will be there too.

Bloody hell, that's a good effort!

Pretty sure you could double up watching the NRL prelims at a pub then still catch the headline set next week too. That's what I'll be doing.

Definitely. They've produced better.

But imo average Gojira is still better than 90% of stuff out there.

Well they aren't on his list and are better than all those no name bands he listed that struggle to sell out a 300 person venue. Good on them for trying to be good at music tho. Probably can't even get a circle pit happening for any of them.

Lol the death and black metal scenes predate metalcore and they'll outlast it as well.
As for living in the shadow, if that what staying underground and not being flavour of the month is, hell yeah. We like the dark.

Everyone I know rates Jesse because he was first.

But Howard is an insane vocalist imo.

Side note: The new Avenged Sevenfold doesn't suck/is actually pretty good. imo.
