So, 2016... Not the greatest year for releases. Destroyer 666, Denouncement Pyre, Urgehal, Urfaust all released good albums. Not much else to excite, sadly.

bit late but did anyone see deftones at the horden? i love them but thought they were pretty average. chino sounded terrible and the guitars were just distortion. it sounded like they playe dthe same song 20 times,

karnivool who supprted them killed it though.

Vocals are pretty much true to the style, he could do with with a bit more variety in his delivery though.

While I'm on the subject of mates bands another one released their debut album the other day and it's one of the best death/doom releases I've heard in ages, admittedly not everyone's cup of tea but if you like sloooow, heavy stuff it's fantastic:

This year's got off to a slow start for me, haven't managed to fit in as many new releases as I'd like. Highlights so far are:

Ah i dunno, no one really to go with and was kinda busy at the time, just wasn't really on the radar.

the tour announcements keep coming, Pallbearer at the Manning in July.

Also two bits of good news on the live venue front, the Bald Faced Stag will be ripping out its pokie room to expand the band room and increase capacity and the Landsdowne will reopen as a 250 capacity venue, pub and eatery, and will be also be pokie free.
