Just downloaded Devil You Know - The beauty of Destruction. Giving it a listen now. Pretty good. Its sitting at number 2 on the iTunes metal chart.

For those that dont know, the lead singer is Howard Jones (former Killswitch Engage vocalist)

Heard one song and it was pretty good. The drummer is John Sankey, an Aussie guy who played with Devolved.

I'd never heard of them until you blokes mentioned it, but I love Devolved and Howard Jones, so I downloaded their new album off iTunes.

It's not bad - a bit naff lyrically, but you can tell a seriously talented group of musicians sat down and wrote the music.

It reminds me of Slipknot, Fear Factory and Devolved all mushed into one.

Pretty good listen IMO.

Anyone listened to Killer Be Killed? Bought the album and loving it.

It's a side project with Max Cavalera (Soulfly/Sepultura) Greg Puciato (Dliinger Escape Plan, Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and Dave Elitch (Former Mars Volta).

Loving the triple vocals. Bit of mix of styles but really worth a listen.

f**k max has been in a few Bands. Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, Nailbomb and Killer Be Killed. Wish he would just stick to soulfly.

Split LP between two of NZs heaviest underground acts- the Sinistrous Diabolus side especially is awesome if you like slow, heavy as f**k stuff.

Arise, Beneath the Remains and Chaos Ad. Sheer classics.

Roots was the beginning of the end for mine, utter shiiiiiiite.

And I say this not to shit stir or be a music snob, I just think they lost the plot with this album.

Yes, this album is awesome. Could probably do without Max's vocals - KILL, TRIBE, WAR, etc etc.

New Mastodon is out soon too. Best metal band in the world at the moment ;-)

Coincidentally, I listened to Roots yesterday for the first time in years! I totally agree that their older shit is much better but I still have a soft spot for that album. Came out when I was in Year 12 and listened to it non stop. It was a natural progression from some of the tribal stuff on Chaos and they were clearly influenced by Deftones/Korn etc. Unfortunately most of the Nu metal tripe that followed tarnished the reputation of that album.

Fair enough. It was very experimental and change in style for them but it worked for me. I loved Roots, probably also because it came out just as I started getting into them. It went down hill rapidly for Sepultura when Max left.

Alestorm, eh? Pirate metal? Something tells me that would appeal to me. Seems the right day for it, considering I just stumbled on Halestorm this morning.

Edit: Yep, I like.
